Why not clams?

Honestly I have no idea lol. My tank's been running close to 7-8 years though...

As with any livestock we intend to introduce into our tank, researching their particular needs should be our first priority. The ability to process organics from toxic to nontoxic is a given. When it comes to clams IMO they should have a stable calcium and alkalinity level. . An alkalinity of around 8-13dKH and Calcium of 400-450ppm is recommended. Stable water conditions including pH, temperature are again a given. Lighting IMO is the most important requirement and so on. I don’t believe there is a time frame requirement other than what would be required to house fish.

Sounds great Joe.. I think Kiefers was kinda asking roundaboutly for me, as I stated Id like to add on to my 29g cube. I would really like to once its all set up and I can keep everything level, I think that was my hardest problem last time, but I didnt have very good lighting and neither a skimmer.. so im going to do it right and be able to have what i truly want, lol

LOL im not allowed to upgrade for a while after I get it set up.. we'll be in a rental for a while unless we sell one of our other houses here...

My maxima came with its byssal filaments attached to a small rock as illustrated by the green color under it. This small rock did not provide a stable platform for the spot I wanted to place the clam. My solution was to take an oyster shell and epoxy the small rock to the oyster shell. The oyster shell should color over with coralline soon. Under the oyster shell is a flat frag plug to level the clam. Remember new hobbyists to keeping clams, you want to prevent your clam if you are placing it on your rock work from being knocked over .
