I had a pink tip nem that hosted a tomato clown, however the nem grew too large for my tank(29g)and I had to take it back to the lfs.

Well sorry to have forgotten about this thread, so far I have been trying to catch them and place the net over the anemone, but with nothing going on, But in the fishes defense, the anemone is in a crazy spot, out of sight of the lighting, cant get it to stay out in front
I will try the light trick tonight to see what happens.

Well here is the update, I have had the light on the anemone for about 15 min or so, they have been swimming around the light, brazed the anemone, but still no hosting.
Will keep light on the tank for a few hours to see if tomorrow morning we have a different post.

it depends on the clowns I would imagine, but mine absolutely love to follow a light. If I am taking picture anytime, or go down at night adn look into the tank with an led at least one of the clowns will come sit in front of the light. very annoying when I'm trying to get pictues of anything but them lol.
As for clowns hosting, My clowns took to my rose bubble tip within two days. I think it had a lot to do with it deciding it liked their spot they hung out at though haha

Well I had the light on all night trying to "talk" them in to going into the anemone. I think it just is not going to happen, they brush by it but would touch it other than that.

I did not actually catch them and place them in it, just chased them into it using the net.

Yeah I tried that method (in other words could not catch, only chased them around the tank). I honestly think that my clowns are not going to work with me on this.

A couple of my friends had success with fake anemones when their clowns wouldn't take to real ones. I personally could never add something fake to the tank, but they said it worked and once removed, they went for the real one. Just a though, don't know if I'd do it. Clowns are evil little fish, they do whatever the h*ll they feel like doing. Take mine for instance, they've decided that my hands/arms are food. They will swim full force from the other side of the tank and attack me the moment a finger inches into the tank (hence the reason why they are so afraid of the fish net. My husband feeds the coral, and I chase the fish away from this arm with the fish net). I love having them in my tank, but they definitely have a mind of their own.

I certainly agree with the Possessed Demons having a mind of their own. It may be possible to try a "substandard" anemone but I am with you, if it is not live it is not in the tank. Maybe when they grow up they could start to act like real Clowns.

No, I was fortunate enough to get a pair with nem from a fellow reefer who was moving, but somewhere on here, there is athread in which many people say it works.

I wonder if the picture idea would work. I had a friend give me a large clown, he was to agressive and I took him to the LFS. But it seems he showed my smaller clown what to do with the anemone.
The pink tip do get large

And yes they will eat smaller fish.
Question:
Do you know how to keep a $10.00 anemone alive?
Answer:
Feed it a $40.00 fish

well i have decided that clowns have minds of their own. there is nothing i love more then going to my LFS and seeing clowns playing in their anemone! i just bought a couple of ocellaris' about a week ago and added an anemone today. the clowns havent even noticed it hahaha. they just seem so uncomfortable cuz they just spend their nights in the open water of the tank. i wanted to make em happy but they just dont want to make me happy...oh well, maybe theyll discover it one day.
heres the closest one has gotten!
