because i can control detritus better without sand. I can keep most of the detritus suspended in the water and let my filtration remove it rather then have it decompose in the tank causing nitrates. There is a 3in sand bed in my 4 gallon hob fuge alone with about 35 lbs of total rock in the system. 30 in the display and 5 in the fuge. There is a 12 gallon wetdry and a AquaC EV-180 skimmer on the system that is rated for 60-200 gallons.

it seems to be doing a good job. with the CC in i would have nitrates around 10-20 every 2 weeks between water changes, and since i have nitrates of 5 and haven't done a water change in a month.
just a test i wanted to do to see if this helped my system or not.

I am pretty new to this hobby, you have a good point though about keeping no sand bed. Makes sense, will keep this in mind when I get another tank.

Still not quite happy with it so i added a 2 rocks from my other tanks.
Still not happy with that either lol
anyways i snapped a few more pics and finally found out how to adjust my white balance so the pics look more realistic and not all blue. I think im gonna pull everything out this weekend and really redo it. Maybe then i will be happy with the results.
I also added a cascade 1000 canister filter to the system. Can you over filtrate a tank lol?

page 2 :D

Ya I can see a difference in your pics, nice job. Updated layout looks great. Keep us posted on new pics if you redo it all again.

Getting preety crowded int ehre! It looks great. The T. derasa looks bigger and more open in every picture. Is the other clam a crocea?
