you all know im very liberal in most of my views, but there are two things i generally agree with the right on. one is the 2nd amendment and 2 is capital punishment. however we cant have common citizens owning surface to air missles, tanks, grenade launchers, etc. for OBVIOUS reasons. if you take the constitution literally it doesnt specify what arms are. at the time the common man and soldier had the same technology when it cam to guns or arms including cannons. if you had the money you could purchase a cannon. its much different nowadays, do you really want the guy down the street owning an Apache helicopter with 50 millimeter guns, bombs, and missles?
i believe every good citizen has the right to carry and conceal a loaded weapon and i wish they did. these creeps would never get away with this crap. imagine if 50% of those people in that church had a loaded hand gun? he wouldn't have been able to fire 1 round before they cut him down.
here in Cleveland last thursday a felon killed a whole house full of people including 5 kids, babies! maybe if there was a gun in that house he could have been stopped. i read a story years ago about a woman in Texas. she was registered, had hours of target practice and training, etc. the law stated that you cant bring a firearm into a public building. in short she took her parents out for dinner celebrating thier 50th anniversary. some nut came in an starting shooting, blew her dads brains out. her and her mom hid under the table as the maniac went on a killing spree. her mom crawled out to be next to her husband, the gunman killed her too. this woman had a fully loaded legal firearm in her car, she left it there becuase she obeyed the law. from under that table she may have not been able to save everybody including her dad but she could have prevented several other deaths including her mothers.
so there is the dilemma, we cant have common citizens owning military grade weapons, but we do need an armed population to protect themselves and eachother.
