Galveston has there version of Mardi Gras in March or April of every year.
Galveston has several rediculous trash the city celebrations. One of them is Mardi Gras, another is a bike rally, then the Kappa event. (that frat event is kind of funny) we went down there not knowing this was happening. When we sat down, and ordered they made us pay up front, because so many of the frat people eat then run out on the meal...

Got ya all beat. I live in red-neck heaven. We have JAMBO here. Jamboree In the Hills. Red-neck heaven. 4 days of country has-been acts. Nothing but drinking and drinking and more drinking. I know people who go there just to see who many people they can sleep with in the 4 days. Local TV shows the 4 day event and nothing like seeing a bunch of drunk people doing beer games with their children watching them. People bring babies, infants, and kids to this thing. Just pitiful.
