I think I am going to get 2 koralias 3s for flow. Maybe 2-2s. Any suggestions for a 20long? RIght now I have an AC 70 on the back, the fuge/sump return is a Maxijet 1200 a distance of 2.5 feet, ball-valved back and a rio 600 directed across the top.
I have a K3 blowing front to back on my tank (18" w and 20" h) and it disturbs the sand. IMO the K3 would be a little much. I would go with a K2 or a pair of K2's on opposite ends on a wave maker strip. Korilias are kinda noisy at startup though.
If you hunt around (or PM me) you can find a MJ plus the circulation conversion for cheaper. I would not recommend the 2100 gph propeller in the conversion (no matter what size pump) as it seems to blow out the back area of the impeller housing. I have 4 MJ's with the kits and the 1600 gph propeller (2 on either end of 72") on a wave maker strip and it works well. In a 20L a pair of MJ600 or 400 plus the conversion would be good if you want to use the wave maker.

Okay, now that I read your PH question.
I have 2 K4's and they throw A LOT of flow. I think for that size of tank the #2's would be better. JMO

I have the Maxijet kits but theya re a bit too strong. If you take a stangard plastic 16oz picnic cup and cut it down it will slip over the sureflo and lessen flow, but I don't like that the Maxijets stick out so much. I have the Koralia nanos and 1s so I think I will go witha couple 2s. I like the flow pattern of them and have been pleased with the action and performance of them so far. Thanks for the info.

Wow Mike! And Wow again. That is awesome
. Local LFS is running two #2s in their 20 longs, cause the #1s weren't generating enough flow. I would think the #3s would be too much.

Thanks. Have 2 of the 2s on the way. Hopefully have them by this weekend.
Redid the racks. 3 long ones so they can slide under each other if I need to get access to the bottom and if I want to get one close to the front for pics of a zoa frag.
Starting to get a little crowded, might need to do another tank.
Hvae thought of doing this for the rics, but I don't know about rics on plugs. They grow fast in the display, but it can be a hassel trying to frag them off the LR at times, especially when they have been there awile and fastened down good and tight.

Its pictures like these that make me want to cry myself to sleep. NOT. But great tank! I finally pinned down my new setup, inspired by your awsome ric tank.
Also, I have a 20g long that I have laying around and when I get the money I want to turn it to a frag tank. Anyway my question is would 2x24w T-5s be ok if I didn't have a ton of cash? I know they would grow slower but is that ok?

Thanks and yes, 2x24wt would be OK. I am running 4x24 but only 2x24 for 12 hours and the other 2x24 for 6 because it is just too much for such a shallow tank. I may even start using just 2x24.

Mike, when you transfer the ricordia to the frag tanks are the tanks bare bottom, sand or CC, can't remember from your earlier thread?

BB when using racks, but don't think it would really matter. I use no sand cause I do not keep any snails and such in frag tank so not needed and I pretty much always use some kind of refugium.
I was thinking of what would happen if you used a rubble-rock bottom with a layer of chaeto and submersable LEDs buried and eggcrate starting an inch or two above for frags? A completely closed system.
Might give it a try some time when have nothing better to do. Only thing I would want in the system is some kind of surface skimmer.
Or go even one step further and set-up a sand plenum, layer of LR rubble and then layer of chaeto. You would need sand sifters, maybe nasarius snails.
Probably wouldn't see any results for 4-6 months but I just wonder.

Question for you about the frags. On those discs they are mounted on, how long can they stay on this disc for??
One other question, buttons are they polyps or zoas??
