8x54W fixtures are the best!
i have one over my 90 made by TEK and it is easily the best move yet. they are affordable and produce a good PAR

ahh, last post here..
i see in one of the pics a mini star. pick those suckers out if you plan on having zoas. they constantly eat my zoas. some claim they onyl eat the rotting material, but others have made fair arguments as to why they know they are eating away and bothering their zoas.
what i do is just pick a couple out when my hands are in the tank. look specificly on at your zoas/palys.
i keep all my zoas on a rack to make sure they stay clean and pest free

I must be blind...lol...I do not see the star, BUT....I have recently been picking my asterinas out of the 225G also
Seems I caught one on a zoa, and when I removed it, a polyp was missing.....I will either toss them in the sump, or in the trash for now on

yes, i have done this to only to find one polyp missing and having a nice clean spot of the frag disc..

what i do is i take them out and dry them out.. i have a line of dried out stars on the center brace of my tank.
seeing them all dried out gives me satisfaction.. no more eating my expensive zoas in its lifetime..
the star is not actually a full star shape. . in the 2nd pic on the left side there is a little white spot.
not fully formed, these mini stars can look very weird. i have seen anything from a full star, to 3 legs, so almost none like in the above pic.

the crumpling of their "skin" somewhat indicates an infection. I'm suggesting its a fungal infection as I've had that happen to me before and dipped in furan2 and treated it like zoa pox and it cured it. not sure exactly what it was

btw nissan, be very careful when changing your lights. if you can make some mesh screens to gradually introduce the t5's itll be much better. I lost a couple of corals just changing bulbs, so imagine the shock you could possibly face from changing from mh to t5's especially with an 8 bulb fixture

i know they told me to do the following:
move all my high corals to the bottom and buy window screens. and every 3 days remove a screen and move the coral up little by little. i just dont know how many screens to get.

forget every 3 days. do 3 screens, remove one every week. IMPORTANT: DO NOT CHANGE CARBON AT THE SAME TIME AS ACCLIMATING LIGHTS!
