best star fish for a 29 gallon reef tank

I had an orange linkia. Much hardier and easierto keep. The only thing is, living in south florida, one of the hurricanes that hit knocked our power out for about two weeks and my orange likia didn't make it But I'm lookin to get another one once I get my tank back in shape. By the way my tank...

    tube worm problem

I seem to be having a tube worm problem. I have these little red tube worms that seem to be growing everywhere. At first I didn't think anything of it, but then I noticed that they keep secreting some kind of mucous looking goo (I'm sure it's waste). Is there anything I can do to stop the...

    Live Rock

The best live rocks that I got were big yet light (saves alot of money). The best advoce when buying live rocks is inspecting them for anything unwanted. For example, I made the mistake of buying a rock with aiptasia, which can overrun the tank if not taken care of.

    Live Sand

Put the live sand in. It will healp jump start the biological cycle.

    New Clown HELP!

You have to remember that fish like hidding places. If they don't have enough hiding places they aren't going to feel comfortable swimming around the tank. I have 2 clowns and they like staying in the same corner, especially at night. As for the food, it depends on how long they've been in the...

    ocellaris help

I have a pair of ocellaris clowns and I am now in search of the perfect host anenome. I know that carpets are the best way to go, but I have a fairly new tank (about 3 months now) and I hear they are difficult to keep. I am interested in a RBTA but Im not sure if it will host my clowns. What...

    ick returns!

I have 2 clowns and a neon dottyback, as well as live rock and 3 cleaner shrimp in my display tank, so I know that I cannot do hypo to the main tank. The problem is that is where i believe the ick is (most probably in the live sand). Is there an invert safe way to treat the tank and wipe out ick...

    ick returns!

My purple tang got ick over a month ago. I treated it with copper, formalin, and clout in a QT tank. It must have been in the QT for at least 6 weeks, and it must have been spot free for at least the last two weeks. But, lo and behold ick again! It's been in the display tank for probably less...

    diatom filter

Thanks for the info. Right now my tank is a FOWLR. I have live sand and rock, but I am planning on getting more live rocks and big lights so I can eventually build up a reef. From what you said, how much live rock would i need to keep my nitrates down?

    diatom filter

I've got a fairly new 55gal tank with a wet/dry and a new protein skimmer. I've been checking my water regularly and everything seems fine. The only thing i'm upset about is that my tank always looks dirty. There's sand and other particles clouded in the water, and i heard that a diatom filter...
