Get used to it man. You "Wait" all the time with this hobby. I have my tank established but Im still waiting..... (waiting for some rich relative to leave me some cash for my 150Gallon tank and light system) Waiting for your fish to arrive, waiting for that particualr corral to come in stock...

    lighting for tank

If your willing to set it up as reef from the getgo, then yea, listen to BanBoy.... (<grin>) Metal Halide is the way to go if you want some of the more delicate and difficult corrals and other inverts. If you have the cash, go for the MH setup to start. The bulbs in those do indeed usualy go...

    1000Watts for $250??

Well, think of it this way. The bulb they use in their green house is exactly the same bulb we use for our tanks. (If not, its a simple matter of changing the buld, LOL) Thats the price of the whole kit from an online store. If its really launching a 1000Watt MH bulb, then I think it might be...

    metal halide ?

These are basicaly the next step up from Halogen lights. They burn a lot brighter and put out a braoder specrum of light. The draw back is, they need a very powerful 'starter' to get them going. Once they are lit, they cont draw as much current. Same as a Fluresent. But, your Flurecents...

Does it ever just not work???

FRom time to time there are cases of a tank not cycling. Mine is one for example. I think it cycled in the 3 days I had it settling and not testing it. Other than that it just seemed to be fine. I have 4 fish, some corrals and an anemone in there and all is well. The amount of LR and the...

    New Lights!!!!!

Awsome dude. My oppinion. I would cycle with as few lights as possible. But still provide some light o keep things pretty, and keep any 'life' in the tank. Sending a lot of light into a tank thats still cycling is asking for an algee problem. As far as lighting. Id depends on who you are. Iv...

anyone using an APS backup? for power loss

I use a computer UPS as a voltage regulator, evening out spikes and drops in the current. Later on it will also act as a simple supply to run while the generator kicks in. Plus, generators give out very Very dirty current, so it will smooth that out and keep my equipment life higher than it...
