    Overflow help????

I think with those you just have to moniter them for a while and keep sucking the air out of them when ever you see it. Or you can upgrade your return pump to something a little faster and it should take the air bubbles down the drain line with the water, preventing you lossing syphon.

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

well this is a fowlr so it isnt too important. i would be more worried if i had corals, but i dont. so this is more to actually prove it works to myself. so far it is, but now im doubting weather i should up my dose in the morning since im starting to see results now. any input on that?

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

well i know i should be dosing calcium and not purple up, but this was readily available and a pure calcium additive wasnt. besides that, it was only an experiment. i understand its only a basic supplement designed for a wide range of things when i only need to be dosing one thing. but back to...

    Will it come back alive?

Yes, the rock itself isn't lve. The bacteria on it is though. Although it is baron right now. Imagine it like a house. When people are living there, it is live. When they move it is dead. A vacant house will only be vacant so long. So once you put it in your tank, new tennants will start moving...

    stumped

If he says no to replacing the tank, go talk to a welding shop and see if you can't get them to weld a brace together that you can just drop right on to the tank. Kinda like this |____| <--- its upside down, but you get the idea. Drain the water so it isn't bowing, and make sure its a tight fit...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

Oh i forgot to add that i have stopped dosing purple up. I know i need to get a caclium test kit before i start dosing again, but i wanted to experiment with that and see if it works. It does btw. I have a rock that i covered in a thin pilm of coraline in about a weeks time now. So i will be...

    Which lights are better?

I have a 24" glo t5ho on the right side of my 55 and a 20" pc 50/50 daylight actinic on the left side of it. The only reason i like the pc light is becuase it has an led moonlight and it has a screen to cover the bulb. My t5 outperforms it all day long. part of my tank is a bright...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

Well day 2 of my experiment hasn't changed anything. My nitrates are still high, my ph is still 8.4. Oh i forgot to mention that on day 1 my ph was 8.4 also. I can't seem to find my firefish goby either. But he has been missing for about a week now.... I know he comes and goes as he pleases and...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

Well i have seen a couple different people doing this with no adverse effects besides the depleted oxygen and the lower ph, so im kinda going out on a limb and trusting this. In a completely unrelated event, i lost my coral banded shrimp today. I know its unrelated becuase i have seen this...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

well i guess negative feedback is still feedback. i know i need to get back on top of my water changes but my schedule is kinda hectic and i dont have as much free time anymore and since this is simple and quick i decided to try it. but i do have a break tomorrow morning to start mixing some...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

Well im tired of having high nitrates and my live rock and chaeto isnt working enough to reduce it. ill be the first to admit im horrible about doing my water changes, and im the kind of guy who will look for the easy way to get things right. seeing as i have a fowlr tank, the water change isnt...

Tell me if this sounds good...

A couple weeks ago i noticed the left side of my stand was literally coming apart. So i drained the tank, i set up tote bins for my fish and LR. I fixed the stand an put it all back together and then had to wait for the cycle again. Well i was looking at the stand today and the other corner is...

my tank and progression of it

Yeah i guess i could see what you mean. But im keeping them up since they played a big part in getting my fish tank. Is it just me or is this board moving alot slower than usual? Normally i would have to search two or three pages to find a post no one has posted in in a couple of hours, but this...

my tank and progression of it

well i wanted a 55 gallon tank, and i had a 55 gallon terrerium laying around, so i filled it with water. the top left corner started to peel away from the left side of the front glass and i stepped forward to try and brace it and it exploded. almost chopped off both fingers. so my when i say i...

my tank and progression of it

yeah it was pretty rough... It severed the nerves so the pain wasn't too bad above the cut, but below the cut sucked like crazy. Its all healed up physical wise, but the nerves are still regrowing. It feels like my fingers are asleep.

my tank and progression of it

Oh yeah, i built a hofer gurgle buster for the overflow. Works great. Very easy to adjust and fine tune down to quiet enough i hear the bubbles in the sump over it. And tomorrow im getting a wireloom to clean up all the wires. My only regret is not installing a cgfi unit while i had the chance...
