is it ok if im running a 400 gph powerhead along with a 200gph powerhead in my 50 hex? is that enough movement?

do you have to cycle Base rock??? and can you cycle both live rock and base rock in the same tank? and does base rock act as a way of filtration like LR?

2nite i just got a piece of LR and i hav sum already in my tank curing...the one that was currently curing is a whiteish color and the LR i bought tonite is a half whitish and brown n greenish color to it the white LR i got from my uncle and i dont know if it is LR??? is it LR or is it base...
