    i just use boiling water, it seems to do the trick, aiming for the mouth using a suringe 5ml.if not dead first day repeat.

    i live in phoenix too, the evapoation is not that bad where i m at, once a week i fill about 16 ounches fresh water not salt or premix, to keep the salt lvl on a steady lvl. i dont use cooler on my tank. dont know if this helps you much, but im more worried about the salt lvl.

    how long have you had the aquarium running, mine been running for 3 weeks now and just started to grow algaes, it can be hard to determinate if its growing but with time it will be more easy to see. good luck
