    Water

If you don't have the money to invest in an RO/DI system, you might look for a water store in your area. I have two within a quarter of a mile radius. It costs about a quarter a gallon. The two in my area even tested their water and posted the results. HTH, :p

Fixitdude, how do Puffers and snails get along?

Our big, bad puffers wouldn't even eat live ghost shrimp we put in the tank for them. I've heard puffers devour everything, but I've not experienced that yet. Maybe when I get a dogface or porcipine. :D

    LawnMower Bleemie

So sorry to hear about your lawnmower, Shel. Its a sad thing :( I just love lawnmowers and mandarins, but I just haven't had any luck with either. As far as fish go, I think I'll just stick with the ones I have. I have much better luck with corals and inverts. Keep me posted on your...

    LawnMower Bleemie

Not too terribly far from you, actually. I prefer to go to AquaTouch and buy almost all of my livestock there. They are so far away. I just recently bought some livestock online, but I think I prefer AT. Occassionally I'll go to Ocean Floor, but only for emergency supplies. Its relatively...

    equipment classifieds?

I've bought some stuff from ----, but you do have to sort through a lot of &^$ to get to the bargains. I've been lucky so far. I saved quite a bundle on a brand new JBJ light, new in the box. I buy most of my equipment from an online store. The prices are quite a bit cheaper than retail...

How would you feed these fish?

I would feed them a variety of foods such as brine shrimp, plankton, some finely cut squid and of course, algae. Clowns will eat a large variety of meats and veggies. Damsels prefer a steady diet of meats, veggies, and flake foods. The angle prefers a varied diet of Spirulina, marine algae...

    SeaClone

    Site Crashing Computer

    LawnMower Bleemie

Hey Shel, I was curious as to where you got your mandarin and lawnmower. I haven't had any luck with either one. Couldn't get either one to eat. The lawnmower lasted a few weeks, the mandarin a few months. I got each one at different shops in the Phoenix area. Thanks, :D

    percula only eats flake

I bought a tank raised clown and he preferred the flakes until(a few days later) he decided to give the brine shrimp a whirl. He still eats the flakes, but goes nuts for the frozen stuff. Give him a little time, he'll realize what the good stuff is. :p ;)

black and white striped damsel is black and brown :(

I have a striped damsel that is quite a %$#@ also. He mellowed out some after I chased him all over the tank trying to catch him so I could return his tail to the store. Never did catch the lil SOB but it calmed him down some.

    Dying Coral and Trate levels

Your rising nitrate could indeed be due to the floundering coral. Anything dead or decaying will increase the nitrates. Good luck, J

    Sun Polyps

They are a beautiful coral, but they do take a little extra time. I hand feed mine 3-5 times a week (brine shrimp, plankton or squid) with a turkey baster. It only takes a few minutes, but it can be a hastle on occassion. Good luck, J :p

    is a 10gal tank a bad idea?

When it comes to tanks, the bigger the better. Especially if you're just starting out. I wouldn't recommend using a ten gallon tank for saltwater. You'll have nothing but a bunch of dead fish. If you're going to keep the 10 gallon, I would recommend a few small, hardy freshwater fish...

    Your Advice Please

I converted my tank from a fish only to reef combo about seven months ago. I upgraded the lights (bought new in box on ---- for about $200), added a skimmer (just under $100), added 35lbs. of live rock (approximately $210), mixed argonite with existing ($20) and added corals, crabs, snails and...
