    Lost my Raccoon butterfly

Lost my raccoon butterfly a few days ago and can not figure out why. I watched him for a month at the LFS, they let me feed him, he was kept seperate from other fish in a section usually reserved for corals. In other words - a sure thing. In my DT, at first he had a hard time with yellow tangs...

    New Raccoon Butterfly

Got a Raccoon Butterfly - first day in DT and my yellow tangs are "flashing" at him and spurring him w/ their tailspikes. Turned off the lights and calmed everyone down. My last Butterfly (yellow longnose) was beat to death by the tangs, so I thought since the Raccoon wasn't yellow, he would be...

    Cycling/Damsel

Two things are clear: 1 There are easy ways to cycle a tank w/out needlessly causing a damsel to suffer. 2 If you start w/ a damsel, you need to have thought about what fish you want in your tank, because damsels are very territorial and do not always play well w/ others.

    Cleaner shrimp

Thanks for the comments. Speaking of setting up territory. The cleaner shrimp like the tops of the powerheads. At night though, my anthias sleeps head down (?) in a pocket of a piece of fluted live rock - the new cleaner sits on top of him during the night and cleans him first thing in the...

    Cleaner shrimp

I was told recently that having more than 2 cleaner shrimp in a tank is risky. Is this accurate and why? I have a cleaner shrimp and a coral banded shrimp that I have had for 8 months or so. The CBS is huge (he's molted at least three times since I've had him) and I know that I'll need to remove...

    Flame angel eating?

My new flame angel does not appear to be eating. Had him in the DT for three days now. He appears fat and happy swimming thru the caves, pecking on the live rock. 125g tank w/ 150+ lbs of lr. He was eating frozen foods (mysis, brine mostly) at the lfs and while in the penalty box. Could he be...

    Powerhead spitting micro bubbles

How does a completely submerged powerhead w/out an airline spit micro bubbles? Mine spits out bubbles every 5 minutes or so. Didn't used to, any ideas as to why or what to do to stop it? Thanks.

    Naso tang

Currently have 2 yellow tangs in an established 125g tank. Have found a healthy Naso tang at lfs. Good idea or not to put in w/ the 2 yellows.

    moving a tank!

When I moved my tank, I submerged a bucket, then moved the live rock into it one piece at a time and then submerged the bucket into a trashcan of saltwater and removed the rock one piece at a time. Was a little time consuming, but by doing it that way, the rock never came out of the water...

    Rock

were did it cost 16lb I paid $16 lb in Virginia for Tonga rock. There were some really nice pieces at the LFS. I was looking for some specific shapes and was willing to pay the price to get them. I wanted to mix different types of rock, so I mixed Tonga, Marshall and Fiji. Buying bulk Fiji from...

    Rock

I've bought Fiji online and Tonga and Marshall from LFS. Really liked the Tonga, but it was pricey.

    Rock

I've bought both on-line and from lfs. I've gotten good stuff from both places, but had to pay $16 per pound from lfs. Ouch.

    Blue Reef Chromis

I had 3 green chromis for about 2 months w/out any problems. I added 5 more. Two of the newcomers died within the week. They were slightly smaller and got chased. The remaining 6 have now worked out their differences and have done well the last 2 months. They school about half of the day, the...

    Yellow tang question

I got both tangs at the same time - a smokin' deal from a friend. They don't fight anymore, but occasionally flash at each other. They get along well now, so I'm concerned about upsetting the balance. thanks for the help thus far.

    Yellow tang question

Have 2 yellow tangs that I've had for 6 or 8 months. they're about 4 inches long. I'm trying to finish stocking (1 or 2 more fish) my display tank before I add an angel. I know these tangs usually do better singly or in groups of 3. Do I risk adding a third yellow or perhaps another type tang...
