    tank size for fire angels

I have mine in a 125g. Great fish, stays busy all day going in and out of the rock. Gets along well w/ everyone in the tank. Great eater and very active.

    Spotted Mandarin Dragonette and Copepods

Second the above. Had a Mandarin for 6 months in 125 w/ 150lbs of live rock. Did not have fuge and could not keep enough pods to keep the Mandarin alive.

    Conch

Even w/ a multitude of extra shells, my hermits killed both of my conchs. They wore their shells for a few days, then went back to less fashionable shells.

You guys are right . . . again.

So, I broke down and bought a refractometer. Been using 2 hydrometers (figured at least one would be accurate). Found my sg to be 1.28 instead of 1.25. I guess an RO unit is next - per you guys advice. There should be warning labels on saltwater aquariums advising you that once you start in the...

    Tangs in a 75

I've got 2 yellows in my 125 and they are in constant motion. Zipping from one end of the tank to the other, in and out of the caves. I don't even stack rock against the back of the tank so as to allow them to race behind the rock also. They crack me up watching them. Need plenty of room - plus...

    Tang ?

As to the tang police - the LFS store owner I deal with (hint: he sells fish for a living) told me not to put a hipo into my 125 with my yellow tang. He said that they would not get along and the hipo would get very big. If you ask for someone's opinion, generally speaking, you'll get such...

    New Shrimp

My coral banded leaves my cleaner shrimp alone, at least for now. They've been together 6 or 8 months. But, the CBS did eat a small peppermint shrimp.

    Tang ?

Actually, it wasn't just a yes or no question. It was a two part question - "or must I try to find another herbivore". You'll get better responses by phrasing your questions more succinctly and by being more polite.

    flame angel questions

My flame was very shy the first week or so. Now he swims in and out of the live rock all day. He eats a varied diet. He eats algea sheets w/ my yellow tangs, then swims to the other end of the tank to eat w/ the chromis. He eats flake, frozen and algea sheets. Very vibrant colors and very active...

    Temp drop

Yes, that's correct. I never thought to check the temp first thing each morning. I'm sure it's due to the lights being off and the house cooling overnight.

    Temp drop

Would a 1/2 degree drop in temp each night be harmful to the fish?

lets talk about schooling damsels and chromiss

Have a school of 6 in my 125. Eat twice daily and are much less aggresive towards each other since I started feeding twice. They seem to school more when the lights are dimmed. At night, each has a favorite hiding spot. As a novice, I love the fact they are dynamic, yet easy to care for...

Confused about yellow and blue hippo tang together in 90

Generally speaking, if you ask for advice, you will get it whether you like it or not. Also, generalizing again, if you ask enough people, sooner or later you'll get the answer you want. I asked the owner of the LFS, that I frequent, about putting a hipo in my "rich prick" 125 w/ my yellow tang...

    fake coral/decorations

I don't believe the question was whether there was a comparison between live corals and fake. I have a FOLR tank and the "crap" fake coral is merely to add to my live rock. Thus far I've received no complaints about the asthetics of my tank from anyone who has viewed it.

    fake coral/decorations

Got a few small pieces worked in w/ the live rock. Is now the same color as the live rock and has some growth attached to it. Blends in well, doesn't look fake. Key is to use very little and not place it alone or right out front. It needs to blend in to look natural.

    question

Could be trying to get the shrimp to clean him.

Fact from Fiction. Thread to tell us what isn't true.

Second the above. I'm still a novice, but have discovered that if you ask often enough, sooner or later somebody will give you the answer you want to hear instead of the answer you need to hear.

Fact from Fiction. Thread to tell us what isn't true.

Makes me happy to live near a good LFS. Family owned. The part-time help wont answer questions they don't know the answer to. They find someone else for you to talk to. They will hold fish for you, let you feed the fish you are interested in and I have even been able to get fish on credit...

    Lost my Raccoon butterfly

I drip acclimated him for 4 hours in a heated tank. At the lfs, he ate mostly brine shrimp which is why I think he was picky with other foods. He was a pig eating though. As soon as I opened the lid, his mouth was out of the water for a meal.

    coral banded shrimp

My CBS killed and ate a small peppermint shrimp that I added. But, he has never bothered any of my cleaner shrimp. I think the size of the peppermint did him in. My CBS molts about once a month and is huge. He is active day and night. He chases away any fish that get too close, but he will let a...
