    Popeye tang

No, the qt is not cycled, which makes me nervous about leaving him there for too long. I don't think the eye is infected - maybe irritated. When I say microbubbles, I mean about a million. My tank looked like a bubble wall for about a week until my new powerheads came in. Millions of microbubbles.

    Popeye tang

I've got a yellow tang with popeye (stupid powerheads - microbubbles). The tang has had it for about two weeks. He's been in quarantine for about a week. The eye has gone down considerably since putting him in qt, but not entirely and the eye is still red. The fish has difficulty seeing out of...

    Cleaner shrimp and shrimp goby

I have a shrimp goby that keeps a cleaner shrimp as a roommate/cave mate. My other cleaners all hang out in their own cave. When the goby comes out to feed, sometimes the cleaner rides out on his back and sits there cleaning the goby. I've had other cleaner shrimp clean the other fish, but the...

    Mean Coral Banded Shrimp

The CBS I had was fine at first. As he got older, he became more nocturnal and more aggressive. My cleaner shrimp usually gave him plenty of room, but peppermint shrimp didn't stand a chance. My CBS got huge before he died. He would stalk the live rock in the mornings like he owned it and...

    Tang question

Is there another tang that would do well with an established yellow tang? Tank is a 125 FOWLR.

    Yellow tang

Last two weeks my powerheads have been spitting a million micro bubbles. I've taken them apart and cleaned them, changed flow rate, all without fixing them. While all of this has been going on, my largest yellow tang has been hiding in a cave, refusing to come out or eat. I ordered new...

    Powerhead

After two weeks of trying to stop my powerheads from spitting millions of micro bubbles, I concede defeat. I'm going to buy new ones. How many GPH turnover is recommended for a 125 FOWLR?

    Losing my mind

Okay, I have been fighting with my tank for two weeks now and am losing my mind. Naturally I have my weekly water change to reduce my nitrates from 20 to 10. Now I have got both of my powerheads spitting out a flat million micro bubbles - for two weeks. I have taken them apart, cleaned them and...

    chromis feeding

Ditto. My small school appear to be less agressive since I started feeding twice daily.

    Hogfish / basslet - compatible?

My hogfish is about 3" long now. Got him at about 2". Great personality. Any new additions to the tank have to go through his "acclimation" phase. He prods all new fish for a few minutes, but he likes to pick up all new inverts and inspect them. He drops them after the inspection and thus far...

    Hawkfish

Will hawkfish (longnose or flame) eat cleaner shrimp and hermits? All the websites say "monitor with". Don't want to introduce a fish that will graze on my clean-up crew.

    Hogfish / basslet - compatible?

I've had a Spanish hogfish for over a year in a 125 FOWLR. Would a blackcap basslet be compatible with the hogfish?

    Heniochus butterfly

I moved around most of my live rock before introducing the butterfly. The tangs stayed busy in their new surroundings. They only seem to notice the butterfly when he tries to "groom" them. It's funny - they almost look embarassed. So far, so good. If I get another pair, I'll move more rock around.

    Heniochus butterfly

Added a heniochus butterfly a short while back to my tank (180g FOWLR). Fish is great, eats well, gets along well w/ everyone else (2 Yellow tangs, 3 chromis, 2 percs, 1 wrasse, 1 flame angel). Was told that I should have added a couple more heniochus w/ the first, because they like to school...

    Fish compatability

Have a 125g, FOLR containing the following fish: 2 yellow tangs 3 green chromis 2 percs 1 wrasse (Spanish hogfish) 1 flame angel plus inverts What else could I add to the tank w/out upsetting the balance? Have had no addittions to the tank in nearly 6 months and all of the above parties are BFFs...

    Enough fish?

My son is bugging me to get a new fish. Have a 125g FOLR tank w/ following fish: 2 yellow tangs 3 green chromis 2 percs 1 flame angel 1 wrasse (spanish hogfish) Nothing has been added in last 5 or 6 months. Is my tank full and if not what else could I add?

cleaner shrimp and coral banded shrimp ok together?

I've had a coral banded for about a year. He's now huge. My son saw him catch and eat a peppermint shrimp. Also, w/in that year I've had 6 cleaner shrimp. They are all gone now, most under mysterious circumstances. All evidence is circumstantial at this point, but the prime suspect is Mr. CBS. I...

    chromis question

I have had 6 in my 125 for about 6 months. Started with 8, but 2 died w/in a week. Since then, they all school a good bit and my 2 clowns will sometimes school with them. The biggest one clears out his spot when it's time to eat, but other than that, they get along fairly well. They do like to...

    Questions about Blue chromis school?

I've got 6 in my 125. After some nipping when they were added, they have settled down. I've found that they do best in groups to spread out the aggression and they like to be fed more than once a day. They school together some during the day, but school together well when the lights are dim in...
