    My 75G DIY Stand

And this is the final project. I don’t really have any pics of the molding going up, so you just have to take my word on that. I put the molding on the top and bottom of the stand, and then some L-shaped thing on the sides (once again, I am not a carpenter…). They doors were pre-made and I...

    My 75G DIY Stand

Here is my monstrosity which I call an aquarium stand. This is actually when I was gluing on the front oak skins. I literally used EVERY clamp I could find to keep it all down. I didn’t want ANY parts that weren’t glued tick, so I tried to cover almost every inch of the wood. Those paying...

    My 75G DIY Stand

OK – now we’re getting somewhere. This is the stand after the skin was put on and the back piece was also put on. I decided to leave a small open strip (4-5 inches) on the back so that I could run the wires wherever they needed to go – but it is still mostly enclosed to reduce noise and light...

    My 75G DIY Stand

This is a shot of the back of the stand. I’m not sure why I’m including this picture – but here it is anyway…

    My 75G DIY Stand

This is the whole support structure complete. Again, there is no center support in front. However, last minute I got worried and added two more 2x4’s on each end in the front. I just wanted to be SURE that the stand was sturdy – and believe me…this thing can whole a Mack truck at this point.

    My 75G DIY Stand

This is a shot of the base with the vertical beams put in place. As you can see, there is no center vertical support in the front of the stand. I still have the one in back.

    My 75G DIY Stand

This is the top section of my support structure. For the front horizontal support I used a 2x6 instead of a 2x4. I did this because (as you will see later), I did not put in a front vertical 2x4 support beam in the middle on the stand (but I still have one in the back). I left that out...

    My 75G DIY Stand

This first picture is of the base of my support structure. Nothing fancy – all 2x4 pieces.

    My 75G DIY Stand

I recently built a DIY stand for my 75 gallon tank, and decided to post the process for everyone to see and learn from my mistakes. In the end, I am VERY happy with the results, but there were definitely some bumps on the road… Let me first say that I, by NO means, am a carpenter – or anything...

    HELP! Tenting House for Termites!!!

Actually, upon further inspection I was told that tenting would not be required...which was a HUGE relief. After speaking to a number of people, I was planning on just taking the tank out and leaving it at my neighbor's house (which coincidentally, is my brother-in-law). I was told that I could...

    HELP! Tenting House for Termites!!!

OK...so I just found out that I will have to tent my house for termites  and VERY SOON. I read the one thread I found on here dealing with the subject, and since I don't feel comfortable wrapping it in plastic and connecting an air compressor - I think my only option is to move it...

    Bio-Activ Live Sand? LS

The bags were on sale: $20 for 20 pounds...did I get ripped off?:notsure: So when I add more I should ask for live sand that's not manufactured? I'm not sure I can get enough sand by buying cups from other reefers...I'll proably need about 40 pounds.

    Tank Temp?

My tank temperature is about 82.4 at night when the lights go out and 81.2 in the morning. I have a 300 watt heater which is usually working in the morning when I wake up...even though I thought I set the temp at around 77-78 (I have the type that you twist on top to make the red line go up and...

    How do I get copepods?

How many should I get for a 75? [Sorry if that's a stupid question...but the only time I've bought anything similar was live brine shrimp, where you get like 10,000 for a buck]

    How do I get copepods?

After reading about 1,000 threads I've come to the conclusion that copepods are an important element to have in a tank. But how are they typically introduced into the system? Can you buy then at a LFS and throw them in the tank? BTW - I don't have a refugium...so can they live and thrive in...
