    Starting a new 250g

Maybe this can help you and others. I was intrigued by the question and did a web search and found this: http://www.grow.arizona.edu/water/ra...nopening.shtml Flow rate is GPM...

No more controversy, skimmers rock !

The specs on mine say 75 gal max. My view was it would pull off DOC's that otherwise were building up in the tank. Another week has gone by, and the tank just seems to be getting better. No bad algae, the corals I have are looking better and better. From some of the 'adjusting' issues I've...

No more controversy, skimmers rock !

I thought I'd give an update on my skimmer since it was such a hot topic six weeks ago. After reading all the debates, I decided to install a skimmer. I had to go hang - on and purchased an Aqua C Remora, using the Maxijet PH. Installation was easy (just used the leveling screws included) and...

    Mollies??????????

Used mollies shortly after cycling the tank. They breed very rapidly, and the babies grow fast. I agree with the "POO" statement. They are eating / Pooing machines. I spent a couple of months trying to get them out as I also agree with the post that they add bio load with very little 'eye...

SC Six pack - less a few

Fuji 602z FinePix 3.1 Meg, using super - macro mode. Acutally had the camera on "Automatic" for exposure. I was in a bit of a hurry. I'd like to go back and put the camera on a tripod, and go for slighty less exposure..... Good plan for shooting the coral... the fish would be ghosts...

    Bubble placement?

I originally had mine perched on a rock to get it closer to the lights and it was very unhappy. I moved it to the sand bed, where it wasn't touching anything, and it has done great ever since. My 75 gal has 4X65watt PC's.

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

Again I see why this is so much fun... Solid argument on the "con" side. Solid arguments on the "pro" side. Like many things, this is still an evolving hobby. I'll have some time to think about this, some of it up close and personal to the real thing.

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

The convincing argument was in the marathon "Skimmerless Experiment" thread was when I believe "KIP" talked about the wave action in the ocean creating foam on the beach.. been there seen it, will be diving Grand Cayman in two weeks to witness it again !

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

I guess I passed the exam.. Thanks for the advice. I just need to work out the geometry under my tank.

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

Have to decide on my own. I think I'm going with the skimmer. The balance of the investment is too large to go cheap on something like this. And ultimately the beauty and health of the tank is what it is all about. My tank is the focal point of in my great room, no margin for error, if you...

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

is what prompted my question. I read a lot of data in it, and a lot of emotion. I'm trying to sort out a bottom line. My concern is I seem to be on a good path, but I'm worried about longer term.

    Skimmerless and clueless ?

My 75 is running with a fuge and no skimmer. I am six months into this hobby and am still finding my way. Based on what I read here, my tank is progressing well. I still have minor bouts of diatom and cyano, but they are becoming less severe and less frequent. My fish and limited corals are...

    Critter pics

I will take more with the flash off... still experimenting with the new camera. I have some tank shots from December (tank 2 mos. old) and now 6 mos. old. I'll post next week with some comparisons
