    Bubble Corals

I feed mine in the evening when the bubbles deflate and the tentacles are out. I think it really makes a difference. It is growing really well. I feed it whole mysis shrimp.

    Blessed event ?

I normally do searches before asking.... this time I did it in reverse, but as usual, found my answer... My guess is that a segment came off the worm (probably one of my critters attacked the poor thing) and it basically asexually reproduced.....

    Blessed event ?

I found a 'new' feather duster in my tank. It is small, but is colored identical to one I purchased about 6 weeks ago. The one I purchase had roamed around the tank a bit due to the water circulation, but now is anchored in the substrate. Question is, do feather dusters procreate in captivity...

    Need SWF phone number

Email them.... I did yesterday because of the same thing and I got a reply within an hour. They've been short staffed this week due to illness and ran short of one item in my order. I'll be out of town so I asked them to wait until next Friday. Try the email route..... HTH

    Thanks to this board

I just received my third consecutive straight "A" report card from my LFS. I get a complete battery of tests from my fish lady and she hands out the report card. It's really funny to go in on a Saturday with all of us lined up to get our scores. She can be brutal. I went on Thursday this...

    Clean up in a refugium

Pods are plentiful, and I have a couple of nassarius... no worms that I know of....

    Clean up in a refugium

Don't know why I haven't asked this question before, but should there be a clean up crew in my refugium ? I'm sure 'stuff' gets in there from the overflow, but with the mud in the bottom, I can't make out if there is detritus or other refuse that would be good to be cleansed by some clean up...

    New tank pics

They are mollies. My LFS has acclimated mollies to Saltwater and uses them for us beginners to get started. Apparently the mollies actually live their adult lives in saltwater, and go to fresh/brackish to birth their young. I had never heard of this until now.... I did freshwater for a long...

    Pristine Water Conditions

All good stuff here.... I have a porous media in bags in my return pump plenum for the express purpose of hosting anaerobic bacteria to work on the Nitrates.. My refugium also is full of macro algae that I have now begun to harvest. So it sounds like I have my bases covered, now it's a matter...

    New tank pics

My LFS sells the agrocrete - man made stuff as 'base rock'. They sell that at ~ $2.00/lb. She had it in her lagoon - type set up in the shop along with her real live rock and said it should have some 'goodies'. Did the "base rock" only in my tank until after it cycled. Then added the 3 large...

    New tank pics

Thanks for the answer. There's a recurring theme to all of the newbie questions... patience, go slow, and pay close attention to what makes the critters happy / sad. There was a quote somewhere else.... only bad things happen fast in this hobby.

New fish - what order ?

These guys are really great. They hang out together. They just hover at different spots in the tank all the time. When my lights go to 'moonlight' mode they head for their cave in a piece of liverock.. all three of them together in one hole. When the lights come on in the morning for 'dawn'...

New fish - what order ?

Great feedback ! I do have a refugium, but don't like the idea of the Mandarin and Six Line competing for a limited food source that I can't directly control. But that leads to another question. I can see a lot of very small critters scurrying around my refugium. I see SOME critters on my...

New fish - what order ?

I have developed a list of fish I'd like to add to my 75 gal fish + reef tank. I was wondering if the order of introduction is important. After researching, here is my 'long list' of fish. I figure it is most prudent to take at least a year to slowly populate the tank. Right now I have a reef...

    All-Glass Overflow Accessory Kit

My other hobby is model rocketry, which is much more 'cottage' in nature... People (and companies) share ideas all the time. But other than two main rocket motor producers, all the 'companies' are just hobbyist gone off the deep end. The fish hobby is a lot more 'corporate' from what I gather...
