What should the underside of a green chromis look like?

Yes, I'm sorry, I should have said they are eating and otherwise healthy. I'm feeding them Marine Cuisine for carnivorous fish once to twice a day. They are sharing a 90-gallon UniQuarium with a maroon clownfish and about seven hermit crabs. Temp 75, S.G. 24. 90 pounds live rock. Up and...

What should the underside of a green chromis look like?

A week ago, I purchased two green chromises and have since noticed that their stomach areas appear to be slightly sunken. I have looked at various images of chromises on the net, and many have the same look. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I'll try to post some pics soon.

    Feeding a clown

The clown is the only fish at the moment until I purchase more. The tank is a 90-gallon UniQuarium over a year old, live rock with newly-installed skimmer. There's a sand-sifting star and about 7 hermit crabs, too. I'm currently feeding New Life Spectrum Marine Formula sinking pellets and...

    Feeding a clown

What and how often do you recommend feeding a maroon clown? How do you know when a fish is getting enough to eat? How much is too much?

    Really Need Some Advice Here!

I've purchased a 4-lamp T5 HO system, 54 watts each, 2 10000K and 2 actinic. What will and won't I be able to grow with this system? If necessary, I think I'll still have room for more lights later on. Thanks so much for your help!

    Really Need Some Advice Here!

Thanks. I am worried about the heat from the halides, though. I have a canopy, and I don't know if fans will be enough to keep things cool. And I don't want to deal with a chiller.

    Really Need Some Advice Here!

Recently, my Coralife PC ballast died, and I'm considering other lighting systems. I have a 90 gallon UniQuarium with "fish swimming space" dimensions of 47 inches long by 13 inches wide by 23 inches tall. I only have live rock now, but would like to introduce corals and maybe even anemones...

    Invertebrates for the Beginner

Are there any colorful invertebrates one could recommend for a beginner? I have a 90-gallon tank that has been cycled for 3 months. It has some turbo snails, hermit crabs, and two sand-sifting stars already. (I had an ornate goby, but he recently jumped out of the tank and is now...no more.)...

    Ballast problems

Thanks, guys. I opened the housing for a better look, and I didn't see any burned wires. I suppose, then, I'll need four new ballasts. I'll get the part numbers tomorrow and if Jon is still willing and able I'll order them from him--or mscarpena, maybe? Thanks again!

    Ballast problems

Also, I'm not sure this is related, but I replaced all four of the bulbs just a few weeks earlier.

    Ballast problems

All three went out at the same time. Is this a repair that a novice could do, or do I need to take it to a shop?

    Ballast problems

I'm not sure how old the unit is, could be 5 or more years old. The lights were working until just recently.

    Ballast problems

My Coralife electronic ballast doesn't seem to be sending current to 3 of my four compact fluorescent bulbs. Any idea what the problem might be, and can it be repaired?

    goby advice

Thanks, but I just found him on the floor this morning. I read somewhere that these fish tend to jump. He will be missed, my first and only saltwater fish.

    goby advice

Does anyone know anything about the care and feeding of ornate gobies? Mine was sold to me as a marbled blenny. He's seemed a little thinner than I remember lately, like his stomach area is a little concave. When I feed him, he seems to plump up some, but goes back to being slightly concave...

    lame hermit?

One of my small blue-legged hermits hasn't moved much at all for about 5 days. It's still alive, I can see it moving its various bits around, but it doesn't seem to be actively eating or moving from place to place. Any advice?

when is a snail truly and surely deceased?

How do you know when a snail is dead for sure? I mean, they sometimes stay in the same place for days, and if you're not watching them carefully, you may not notice. Does anyone have a method beyond pulling them out and giving them the ol' sniff test?
