If your ph is kept above 8.4, and nitrates kept low, PO4 (the most common organic phosphate) should remain in an insoluable form and not affect coraline algae growth. So I deffinitly agree with Hurt, heep that ph up!

Typically the algae tangs love and eat 'voraciously' is almost stricktly macro-algae. Generally it is the softer macroalgae like culerpa. Tangs generally wont eat calcified macroalgae like halmedia.

All of what Mikeyjer said is true, and one of them could be the culprit, but 0.3 ammonia is not going to kill anything. Although if your PH is high (8.6+) the ammonia is more toxic to fish. So 0.3 could be a problem in that context. More LR will help keep ammonia low as well. It is good to be...
