    An Anenome is Born!!!

I've never seen any signs at all...one day you have a happy anenome----the next you've got two blobs of goo. It's always happened at night, though. This was the first time it split three ways. Powdertoastman, I've seen those bags of seafood you're talking about...do you thaw it in the microwave...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

Looks real good, Powdertoastman! Just out of curiosity: what do you feed it, and how often? I tried a silverside and a raw shrimp once, and it pulled it in then spit it out. It'll only take frozen food. But last week I added about ten hermits to the tank and when I dropped the first one in, the...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

Powdertoastman, do you have a pic of yours in the 29 gallon? Does the RTBA have its bubbles? It's good to hear that someone else is having success with a RTBA in a smaller tank and without halides. Good food, good water, good times!!!

    An Anenome is Born!!!

I give it a little squirt from a turkey baster with brine, mysis, or marine angel about every other day. Not too much (about a quarter of a frozen cube), but if I don't feed it often, it will move around the tank looking for food and killing everything in its path. This guy can cross the tank in...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

The light is a 26" Coralife Aqualight with two 65 watt 50/50 bulbs. That gives me about 4.5 watts/gallon. I'm at work now:D , so I can't get a pic of my actual light, but let's see if I can pull one from the net...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

Thanks, Chris17! Much appreciated!:joy: I think it's just a regular 29 gallon. The only sups I use is a capful of AquaCal in my weekly 5 gallon water change. Motameto, do you in Seattle? One of these two is going to the fish store this weekend...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

I've been told it's a Rose Bubble Tip Anenome (RTBA), but the tips of the tentacles don't bubble up like some I've seen. Maybe just a Rose Tip Anenome, then. As far as how hardy it is, I got it from a guy who had it for five years, and I've had it for about two. It survived my 'newbie' phase and...

    An Anenome is Born!!!

Nope, that's the 29. The 80 was freshwater. I sold it when I moved to my new place. It was too big to carry down three floors, then back up four more!

    An Anenome is Born!!!

It splits about every six months or so. The stings aren't bad for me---it just kind of sticks to your skin. But to mushrooms---DEATH TOUCH!!!! The new one is going to the fish store for a trade. One is enough.

    An Anenome is Born!!!

And a couple of days later!!! It pretty much split in half---the third piece is about the size of a quarter and is hiding in the back(haven't got a good pic of it yet).:joy:

    Feeding Anemones

My anenome shrinks down at night a little or when it disturbed. It comes right back after a bit.

    Feeding Anemones

I use frozen cubes of brine, mysis, and marine angel----just let it sit in a cup of water until it melts, and suck it up with a turkey baster (not from the kitchen!) and slowly shoot it into the anenome. If it's ready to feed, the food will stick to it's tentacles and pull it into it's mouth...

    29 Gal Suggestions

I just finished a hob fuge for my 29 gallon. It's in the DIY section if you want to take a look. Just search for 'need help with hob refugium'. I only have 2 fish in there: a domino damsel (who was supposed to be my sacrificial cycle fish, but nevere died) and a clarkii clown). They don't add...
