    Lighting upgrade question

I was also about to order a lighting set up from ***********, until I called them to see what kind of ballast they used in their setup. The particular setup I was looking at was a magnetic ballast. I prefer electronic ballast, because I've been told they prolonge bulb life, use less energy, and...

I haven't ever acclimated my corals either. I just float the bag for a while and then put them in. I have had no ill effects thus far:). I do however acclimate everthing else.

    Is there any hope? Ophira!!

I currently have a 37 gallon. I know this is a small size, but I have put an order on a 58 gallon rr. I currently have around 45 pounds of lr. In my new system I will be putting in around 75 pounds of rock. The star is only around three and a half inches from end to end. They reason I stressed...

    Is there any hope? Ophira!!

My blue linkia was exposed to air today while I was doing my water change. He was hiding behind the little lip that returns the water from the protien skimmer. He was exposed for around two minutes, so I am expecting the worst. I assume that there is nothing that I can do for it. If/When it...

    Debt or Broken Even?

I'm not in debt because of my hobby. It's because when I got a high limit card I bought toys, lots a toys. It's a mistake I won't make again. Now I only pay cash. I don't even carry my cards anymore, I usually have enough cash in the bank. I must admit though, getting into this hobby has been a...

    Blood shrimp

Buy! Buy! Buy! I paid $40 for mine as well. It was at the lfs for about a month and a half. One day I had some extra cash, so...... Anyway at that price if you can afford it I would buy two. Mine seems kinda shy, and I've heard that they are a little more outgoing if there are a couple of them. HTH.

    A mix of Shrimp?

In that small of a tank I wouldn't put a cbs and any other shrimp together. If you have a big tank then the cbs is usually ok. You can however put a couple of cleaners in there. In my 37 gal, soon to be 58 gal, I have two peppermint, one cleaner, and one blood red fire shrimp. They all get along...

    lights

I personally like serpent stars. Some people like brittles, but they can sometimes be preditors. So if you do get a brittle try to curb its appitite by spot feeding. Since you are contemplating corals later on I would recommed staying away from the knobby stars like the chocolate chip, they will...

    lights

Blue linkia starfish don't need any light, they are primarily a nocturnal animal. I have read a lot of Ophira's post about these guy's, and I have one as well. They are extremely difficult to keep in an aquarium for more than a year, and you can't spot feed them. I have had mine for about six...
