Water Temp/Mana shrimp in live rock?

Need to get some info. What size is the tank? You said the tank has been setup for a month and a half. How long have you had fish in the tank? If you put fish in the tank while it was still cycling that probably stressed the fish, caused ich and that's what would have killed them. What are the...

Go Ahead, Ask Me What My Nitrites Are...LOOK AND RESPOND EVERYONE!

I would deffinently heed the advice given by sammy and fshhub. When you are sure your levels are level my suggestion for a fish would be a true or false percula clown fish. These fish have great personalities. I had one for a while that would nibble on my arm anytime I had it in the tank. HTH...

    weight of tank

To me it wouldn't be worth it to get another. They look cool and all, but most of the time I've got the lid open to help keep the tank around 78 degrees. I don't even use the filter, I let my dsb, lr, and protien skimmer do it for me. To be able to use the skimmer I had to put two holes in the...

    What starfish?

Is there a starfish that will eat detritus and stir my sand without eating the organisms in the dsb. Maybe just a sand sifting star, or what I would really like would be a red star. T4AH.

    39 gallon aquarium

I have a sea clone skimmer and it does a good job of skimming for the price IMO. As far as filters go I can't tell you what to do, cause I don't run one. I just rely on my dsb, 30 some pounds of live rock, and my skimmer. I personally think that going with a deep sand bed is a better idea than...

Why Isn't My Protein Skimmer Working?

Check the air line. My skimmer was having intermittent problems. I would get no bubbles at all or there would be big bubbles instead of micro bubbles. I had salt clogging my line, I rinsed it out and haven't had any problems since.

    starter fish ick

Hey, ocellaris_keeper. Shouldn't he wait until the tank finishes the cycle before adding all those inverts, since they are so sensitive to water quality. HTH.

    Algea

The tank is about four months old. I only use ro/di water for my changes. I did use tap water on the initial setup of the aquarium. Today it doesn't so much look red it just looks like hair algea. I went ahead and bought the emerald crab and a water pump to get some more water flow towards the...

    white dots

When coraline algea dies it turns white, perhaps that's what has happened. I know I had quite a bit of coraline on the glass in my tank, and when I moved it turned white within a couple of days and it came off really easy when I cleaned my glass. HTH

    Trying to catch hawkfish

I've never tried catching a hawk fish, but when I was trying to catch my blue damsels I just fed them. Then I waited for them to get the food from the top and was waiting with my net. They never knew what hit em. HTH.

    Algea

I've started getting what looks like hair algea growing on my sand bed. Right now it is really short and it looks as though it has a red tint to it. I was told by my lfs that an emerald crab would eat it, and he also suggested a dragon goby. Anyone have any experiences that may help, or...

    Got moved

I lost my peppermint and skunk cleaner, but nothing else. It's now been a week and everything is alive and well, luckily. My brother decided he wanted to put his mono argentus (typically a brackish fish) into the salt tank. I was like ok lets get him accli.....plop as the fish went in the cooler...

    Turbo Snails

I think that finding a new lfs is in order. Someone like that doesn't care about the welfare of your aquarium, they're only out to make a buck. So is your aquarium still in it's cycle? If it's towards the end of the cycle then you will have an algea bloom, but it will go away soon. Also your...

    my set up

It typically takes four to six weeks for a cycle. Just out of curiosity why are you cycling with damsels if you have no intentions of keeping them? A cycle can be a very hard thing for a fish to live through, if they live through it. Anyways IMO you should go ahead and take back the damsels now...

    Salt?

They way I was told to do it, is to add the salt and let it aerate for 8 to 12 hours. Not sure why probably just to make sure the salt disolves. HTH.

    LIONS

Let him starve for a while, they can go for a while without eating. Try preparing some fresh sw food shrimp, squid, etc.. If he's hungry enough he'll eat it. Also maybe get some kabob sticks and stick the food on the end and move it aroung on the top of the water, he may think that it is alive...
