    of coarse. I just did not want to mix 55 gallons of water in a bucket. When it comes time to do water changes i realize that i will have to do it in a seprate container. thanks again for all the replies.

    i think people were saying it was ok for me to mix my salt in my tank and once salinity is established then place the sand and rock into the tank. That soundsflawless to me but of coarse im still a newbee

    thanks for all the advice. As to the power head, I have a rio 600. will that be enough to disolve the salt without developing a layer of salt at the bottom?

    why would it be nessisary to have rock and sand in it immediatly? I realize i would not be starting my cycle in my previously posted method, so would LR and sand still be nessisary?

    There are alot of designs you could follow. If you google DYI aquarium stands I'm shure you will find alot of good designs. Also look in the archives!!! Lots of good stuff there. My only advice is to use 4x4's on the four corners!

    fish only tank cleaners

    I dont know from experiance however I have seen alot of posts saying that starfish are very good sand sifters however should only be kept in 100+ gal tanks due to the fact that in a smaller tank they will die of starvation. Thats just what I have read so the info could be wrong.

    my rio 600 power head came with suction cups and several attachment pieces which are used to direct the current. All I did was attatch everything and stuck it to the back of my tank. It does a good job circulating the water in my tank.

    million-dollar fish tanks-report

    I got my new Cleaning Magnet today!!

    my cousin is a diver a sea world and he cleans some of the tanks. He throws on the scuba gear and gets to work with a window squeegee. Looks like it is a pain to do though.

    Dumbest thing you dropped in your tank?

    when i first started in the aquarium hobby with my 10 gal Fresh water tank whan I was maybe 9. I thought that my gourami's would like a drink and in went a can of Coke! I learned a few days later that Coke makes fish sick.
