    Brandons 125G Tank Build Thread

Nice reply, but....honestly they are pretty much the same thing. Maybe we could just call them "sumps" lol. If you build one, then you can put anything you want in it of course. I have been thinking of building one with the scrubber idea at the end of it. No reason you couldn't incorporate...

    Brandons 125G Tank Build Thread

Define your idea of a "sump". And define your idea of a "wet/dry"

Week 21 Topic: Zoanthus and Palythoas

New camera and I can't get a good focused close up shot, I need a macro lens. Anyway, best I can produce at the minute.

    scrubber= no skimmer?

Ok my thoughts, I am drinking the cool-aid of this scrubber idea, however it is no different than filter media or a large sponge in your refugium or wet/dry sump. While I see this working, we achieve basically the same thing with bio-balls, etc. I have never had an issue with bio balls as some...

    super fustrated!

This might be a stupid question, but are you using tap water and are what are you using to kill chlorine and other additives/metals? Hard breathing is either poor water quality or very high ammonia/nitrites.

    Depressed - Venting

Yea what isn't stated is how long was it like this? Something that drastic has to take days, if not weeks to build up. Did you just notice? Sorry for your loss, but it does sound like a maintenance problem, not enough attention paid to water quality, etc.

    Brandons 125G Tank Build Thread

Nice Tank! The best filtration you will ever use is a wet/dry. Now I know the Eheim says wet/dry on their canisters, but it isn't the same. Remember that canister is sealed after all so everything in it is essentially "wet". For what you paid for the Eheim and the 2 HOB filters, you could...

    Last Nights Storm

NE TN, we weren't affected, but temps are varying wildly. Bring on the snow is what I say , 5500 watt generator on hand, lots of fuel, and a new Jeep lol. Only reason I bought the generator was for the tank. I have a lot (as we all do) invested in my set up so I suggest if you can swing it...

    New 60D Canon

I think you have the settings very close on that, those are some excellent pictures. I had the Canon T2i and ummm....dropped it. Not like me, but accidents happen. Any how, I digress...I am looking at picking up the 60D as well. I believe with the stock lens they are going for about 1200...

I could see not cleaning your pump as being a problem, especially when the pump was too big to fit the plastic housing on the end that "screens" larger waste. I had to remove mine or it would not fit period the way the skimmer tube mounted to the pump. I didn't think it would be a big issue as...

Thank You Mike! Sorry for the late response, I have been pretty busy with things. I will have a PM sent to you BTL and the others that wanted to know about what I used for the cycle soon. I am working on something and I will send it as soon as I finish. I would love to hear feedback as well...

    camera settings

1600 iso should work fine. You can always use the "sports" mode on that camera for crisp shots. On and SLR, about the only way to get really crisp shots is a tri-pod. You can pick one up for about 20 bucks at walmart, they make a world of difference. I had that camera as well, it is an...

Meowzer, Yes that skimmer was an add on to the wet/dry, so it fits right down inside and uses a RIO 2200 pump. It works well, but if I need to I will get an external. What troubles did you have with yours? BTL I will send you an email a bit later. Thank You all for your input.

    3G and 28G shots...updated

Yea I am surprised you have that type of power head in that tank. I put a Koralia 3, I believe, in my 55g and it about blows the corals off from the other side of the tank! I have it mounted on the left side near the back corner in the middle and pointed upwards. It is like I have a 5000gph...

Hey All, I got out of the hobby a couple of years ago due to a relocation for a job. I recently decided to put up another tank and thought I would list some pics. I just got a new camera, so some of the pics might be just a little grainy, hope they are sufficient. I have been planning this in...

    Problems cycling my tank.

Cycle is a pretty good product, Seachem makes a product called "Stabililty" that is fantastic. It will have the tank in great shape in a few days. I use the off the shelf live sand to and as others above said, I really have never noticed it did much of anything. I wouldn't hold a lot of hope...
