    Thanks, both for the reply. The nitrates will not be as detrimental to the freshwater fish as they are to the corals. And as far as my drinking water, the nitrates are in an acceptable level for human consumption. I suppose that aquatic life is more sensitive.

    well, after exploring my oprions, I've decdied that is would be most economical and less troublesome to pack up my ten gallon and go with a freshwater set-up. Thank you all for your support these past couple of years.

    it looks good, but I'm not that good with DIY Stuff. Is it that difficult to retrofit. It looks like all I have to do is run mount the endcaps and ballast and run the wire. Is this the case, and would it retrofit in my 20 inch flourescnet hood i currently have?

    Will this light do harm?

    Hi All, HAve a ten gallon and am looking to upgrade my flourescent bulbs. I found a JALI strip-light that measures 22.5 inches long(72 watt) the tank itself is only about 19 1/4 long. I suppose it would be ok to have about 1 1/2 inches on each side in excess but i was wondering if anyone else...

    i would wait since it is a new tank it will have to go through some type of cycle. keep you eyes on your levels for the next two weeks, then you can determine if it is ok to add.

    I'm with fishy on this one. Eight days into the cycle, i would expect your levels to rise a bit more before they go down again. Changing some water would be fine espically of you are going to keep the inverts in the tank.

    they actually clean the parasites off of the fishes body. check them out in the inverts section under infor for hobbyists on this website, it will give you a detailed description.

    I have found that cleaner shrimp are a very effective way of controlling ich in a reef tank

    I would not recommend it, espically if you are gonna start a reef, cleaning it will be a major task if not impossible. Save your money

    its a good filter to polish your water, but i would not recommend running it all the time, espically in a reef tank.
