i would just keep eyes on it...they are a hit or miss species. Mostly miss when its your first try...they dont stand nitrates at all...Good luck~!

the gas exchange part im aware of but I think i should have phrased my question diferently. I think im asking how long the water will remain stable without the influence of essential elements. i.e. LR, LS, and other biological elements present in most tanks... Thanks for your response Tropills~!!

Hair algae is or can be a problem for people. If your crabs and snails dont take a liking to it then i would recomend Algone depending on tyhe severity https://www.saltwaterfish.com/ Check that thred out~!!

I drip acclimate everything i put in my tank. I float first for temp. But that assuming you get stuff in plastic bags. I dont know how animals come from SWF.com but anything definatley needs to temp acclimated~!

Thats too bad about your frogspawn. But one head out of five isnt that bad. I would recomend a clean up crew for that pesky hair algae. But other than that looks good~!!!

Emerald crabs are for the most part herbavores. I doubt that your emerald killed that crab. As judyk asked; is it possible your crab molted and is hiding??
