    Quiet One 4000....not so Quiet!!!

Thanks Jason, The rattling has stopped but I still have the humming sound. May be that the plumbing is agaisnt the canopy. When you plumbed your external did you go hard pipe all the way or use flexible tubing?

    Quiet One 4000....not so Quiet!!!

I have this Quiet One 4000 on my closed loop and can't seem to get the thing to be quiet! It has a very annoying rattle to it. I checked all the fittings and checked the impeller, ceramic, and all other internals and everything appears to be fine. Even pushed, pulled, twisted, hammered, etc...

    Tank Transfer is done!!!

Thanks Bigarn, I actually lopped off the two frags from that last round and took them to the fish store. I cut them right at the base of the rock. They are both about 3 inches tall now and look great! That species of coral grows like a weed!

Hey Doc, We stayed at the 7 mile last July!!! Right before Charlie hit and then Ivan tore up the place.... When were you there, we may have tipped a cold one together!!! We usually put in the exchange for the 7-mile but since all you owners had to reschedule there won't be much available this...

    Colt soft Coral

Do you have a picture of it? Would be easier to help if we could see how big it is. It should be easy enough to just cut away with a razor blade. Colts heal quickly and will grow polyps in the cut area. I did a thread on colt fragging in the reef forum that may help you. It is under the...

    Photos of Fragging the Beast!

Could have been too much light too fast! Maybe a bit of shade for awhile to allow the colt to acclimate. The colts in this thread are just under 200 watts of NO lighting and they grow out of control. Hey, I'm an artist too! (acrylics), and like fish (8), dog(s) (1 Great Pyrenees) and cats, (5...

    What's a good small powerhead?

I've been running AquaClear 301s for over a year without any problems other than needing a tap or two to engage the impeller after they have been off for a bit. They are visible, but not really obnoxious. I have them in each back corner of the tank. They are also covered in coraline now so are...

Getting Ready for a Huge DYI projects.....

Lookin Good!!! How did you move your 46? I am undertaking an upgrade myself and need to move a 55 with metal stand into the kitchen. It's about a 15 yard move. Did you remove any water or just muscle the thing over those few feet? Thanks, good luck with your project!

Weekend project is about done. need to choose a finish

Thanks JSB, You should have enough surface area covered by the bottom of the stand to prevent indentations. I Would add that piece of plywood to the bottom just in case the bottom frame is off slightly. Another option is to place a thin piece of styrofoam under the whole thing to even it out. It...

And the finished stand. The canopy was built in the same manner but without the 2X4s for the frame. The top and bottom trim boards along with the plywood face provided enough support. Hope you enjoyed this project, have a great day!!
