    Photos of Fragging the Beast!

The second frag (the problem child) was the one that slipped out of the fishing line and fell to the bottom of the tank. I then used the toothpick/rubber band method and moved it to a low flow area and it slipped out of that as well. I now just tied the fishing line between two of the branches...

The frag now on the right is doing real well. I still have the fishing line in but it looks like it has anchored itself to the rock. I will take out the fishing line this week.

Thinking about starting a coral farm

Take a look at Walt Smith's web site..... (That is where a majority of the fiji live rock comes from).... If you click on the Fiji station link you can see pictures of how they have their prop tanks lined up. As someone mentioned, very shallow tanks and what looks like a lot of water movement...

I will cut it and remove the line, but not sure how long it takes for the coral to grab the rock. The frag on the right slipped thru the fishing line and fell to the bottom of the tank. I have since used 2 plastic toothpicks and rubber-banded it to the rock. So far it is still there. I'll post...

Great.... I will be trying out Puerto Vallarta in July, not much reef action, but should be some good fish to see.... Will probably forgo the Grand Cayman this year since I'm trying to land St. Johns in the USVI. If I can't get that exchange then I may see you in Cayman in October! Sure could...

Yea, Kip, I only have 2 passes of line thru the base of each coral so will snip each side and only pull thru a couple of inches. Thanks Hariii2, I didn't even notice I had that hat on. As you can see by the condition it is the favorite! Guess I'll have to make another trip back to get me a new...

I used the fishing line from what I read on here..... In fact, Kip, I think you might have suggested in another thread somewhere! I chose the thicker fishing line because of the comments by other hobbyists that the lighter fishing line, or thread, would tear thru the "meat" of the base and not...

Once the frags hook up to the base I will cut and remove the fishing line. Not really sure how long that will take. I've heard people here on the boards comment that the biggest problem they had was the fishing line tearing thru the base and ripping it. So far it looks like both frags are...
