    NO Lighting Question

I have a four bulb (40 watt each) light system in my canopy plus one 20 watt blue actinic bulb. Total wattage is 180. What are the best tubes to get for low light corals in a 55 gallon long tank? I would like to add some zoanthids (sp), maybe some mushrooms and other low light species. Should I...

    does ick affect?

Thanks for the responses. I think it may be best to just start with a fresh 20 gallon mix. I had just done a 10 gallon change and thought I may be saving a few bucks by saving the water. I will go ahead and cycle from the beginning and wait on adding the clowns. Thanks again, Chris

    does ick affect?

Roggy, mind if I hitchhike on your post? If a tank that was exposed to ick has had all the rocks, live sand, crabs, snails, etc., removed but has not finished the 4 week "ick cleanup" does the ick stay active in the water? The reason I am asking is that I am moving all the live rock etc., from a...

    OT: BEER whats your favorite

Never tried to get Stingray home, but did bring back plenty of Tortuga spiced rum!! I do agree with you, Stingray is good brew, although when sitting on the beach in GC I think anything would be suffiscient!

    Why do people rush this?

I agree, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of having a flourishing tank. I made the mistake with my 45 gallon FO tank. Tried to do everything as soon as possible and the end result was a tank full of dead fish. I have since learned to be patient and am "slowly" setting up a 20 gallon...

    Ready to get started!

Here's an update: I added another 10 pounds of live rock and have been just filtering and moving the water around with the two 301 powerheads and the HOT filter. I am doing a 3 gallon water change tomorrow. I have added some "workers", 12 red-leg hermits, 4 turbo snails and one emerald crab...

    My 20g specs...(no pic)

Hi Grouper, When you started up your tank what did you add first? I just started a 20 and am curious as to whether I should get a clean up crew first (is there anything for them to clean)? or get the two clown fish first. Or is it best to add, say, a mushroom coral or frogspawn first? (after the...

    Ready to get started!

Thanks 007, Instead of making the top section 2" and the bottom section 3", I just made the full frame 6" and put on the lid. Also on the back I put a full 6" X 26" piece and then cut out the slot with a jigsaw for the filter and room for the electrical cords. And as for the coffee table, the...

Thanks for the help, 007, Did you mean you have actual plans for a canopy? If so I'd like to see them if I may. I have an idea on what I want to do, but if there is a proven method that works I'd rather go that route. (then again if you are saying you are "planning" to build a canopy, then I...

    Ready to get started!

Thanks Overanalyzer, I did copy and paste your post for future reference. I am looking at building my own canopy and maybe getting the Workhorse 7 balast, some of the water proof end-caps, and two 75 watt bulbs. The one I have now is 18 inches, is that the size I should shoot for or do I need to...
