    New 55 gal set-up

Please continue to ask questions, that's why we are here. Just a reminder - the straight siphon to the sump will fail. It's just a matter of time.

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

The Angel will appreciate Algae but it will be fine with scraping Diatoms off the glass to supplement your fish food. I think you would do just fine without algae sheets.

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

I believe the Coral Banded will eventually eat your Cleaner Shrimp. It won't be immediate but eventually it will find one in a hole after a molt and drag it out with those long arms. In my opinion the Clownfish should be your first fish in the tank. The Kole Tang is possible but lowers your...

    New 55 gal set-up

Hi and welcome! First question - is there any way you can return the 55 gallon tank and get something with a little more front to back depth? You're going to have a difficult time with such a skinny and tall tank. I'm guessing "no" so will proceed as if that's out of the question. Do NOT...

Yeah, A Flame Angel is an excellent Centerpiece fish.

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

Too many large fish in my opinion. The list of smaller fish seems fine but I would suggest one of the larger fish, not all 3. ie a Tang, a Foxface, or a pygmy angel, not all three. It's tight for a Tang but the Kole can handle it since it's a territorial fish. A Flame and a Kole is possible...

    uscmizzy's 36 Gallon Bowfront update

I voted no. In my experience you can be successful with either 1 Chromis or more than 6 Chromis. Due to their hierarchy structure they need to constantly battle for the lead male role and the two lead female roles. If there are less than 7 Chromis one of the fish will get too much "attention"...

What are some good water condtioners

Imforbis is probably right. If you do decide to begin dosing be sure to test for the major elements to ensure they do not get too high and to get an idea of the proper dosage. The general dosing instruction on the packaging is rarely the correct dosage for your system.

They interact with each other and it reduces the stress on them. They also breed and that sets up a regular cycle of molting.

    Is this ok?

If it's one of the smaller Clownfish species then that's fine. I'd recommend at least two Cleaner Shrimp of the same species instead of just one.

    ID please!

My first guess would be the Hydroid stage of some type of Jellyfish AKA "Hydroids". They typically continue to multiply exponentially until food becomes scarce and then start budding off little jellyfish. They have a powerful sting and can be a nuisance for your fish.

I agree 100% with Jay. A female Maroon will claim about 8 square feet of area for their nest. In contrast, a Percula will claim about 2 square feet and an Ocellaris about 4 square feet. The end of the tank away from a Maroon Clownfish pair is mostly safe but if she decides to claim the middle...

    10 Gallon Dwarf Seahorse

Look into having a Tiger Pistol Shrimp and some type of Shrimp Goby like an Antenna Goby. Very easy to care for and very entertaining.

    Inverts

No. Smaller inverts are very sensitive to low salinity.

Hi Joe!! I haven't seen Flower in months. I don't have a good feeling about it either.

    Ph Reduction

In my experience the following are the reasons for low PH in order of frequency: 1 - Excess CO2 2 - Metabolic acids released from decomposing organics 3 - Low Alkalinity Grab a glass of tank water and test the PH immediately. Take the glass outside for 10 - 15 minutes then test PH again. If...

    LED light color and algae

reds do seem to increase algae growth in my experience. If it were me I wouldn't be too concerned with that and just set up the color most pleasing to you.
