    Blue Tang Advice

It's probably just a scrape (as mentioned above). Keep an eye on it to see if it spreads, if so then it could be a few things.

Help! Fish mysteriously dying over the course of 4 months

Stray voltage comes from equipment failures. It can happen over time, especially heaters and powerheads. It stresses the fish, not kills them. However; Stressed fish are more susceptible to disease and "mental" problems. It's probably not the cause of your fish deaths but if present it can...

    Sick anemone

Return it to where you purchased it. The foot was torn which severely decreases the odds of success. The odds of success for a new hobbyist is only about 3% to begin with so decreasing that means it's nearly impossible.

    Suggested water change frequency

I've always suggested doing water changes on the schedule and amount that you are most comfortable with. Not being coy it's just that if water changes are inconvenient or a big chore they will get skipped. When I had a 55 I just did 5 gallons a week. For me, it was easy to dump out 5 gallons...

    Dying Corals but no phosphate/nitrates

I think there's a couple things going on. From what I can tell you do not have enough waterflow for those corals. I also believe you have excess phosphate but most is being consumed by either Cyanobacter or dinoflagellates. I can't tell which from the pictures. If the red/brown algae you see...

    Dying Corals but no phosphate/nitrates

Can you be specific on the lighting and amount of waterflow? You listed Ammonia as 0,15 - I'm not sure what that means. Any other livestock in the tank? What were you feeding the Tubastrea and how often? What are you feeding the other corals?

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

There is no way of knowing at this point but if it were me I would add more snail diversity. I'm not a fan of Hermit Crabs.

Does this list look ok for fish ideas

The quantity of snails isn't a fixed amount. It depends on the species of snails, reproduction rate, food availability, etc. My 155 probably had a couple dozen of various species of snails. I had a 10 gallon that had at least 100 in it because the food production rate was so high (I kept the...

What do I do when the power goes out

This is all you need. Buy a couple or several of these depending on tank size. They provide gas exchange as well as significant waterflow. Be sure to keep plenty of batteries around ;) Personally, I keep a generator but here in the winter can be brutal if power goes out.

    New 55 gal set-up

OK, it doesn't sound like you have a straight siphon. Sorry to sidetrack you with that. Is there a hole (or holes) drilled into the glass for the overflow? Maybe a picture would be best. As far as water through the sump, it depends on what equipment you have in the sump. It doesn't have to...

    dumb ro question...

Just to add a little - If Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium are where they should be and PH is still low then you have a problem. Adjusting the PH with a "buffer" isn't going to fix the problem, it's going to mask it for a day or two and then PH will drop again. If you have the above...
