    Horseshoe crab compatability?

Just say no to the Horseshoe Crab. They will eat what they can catch and grow fairly fast. Once they exceed a foot in length they are very destructive.

Aren't Yellow Tangs supposed to school?

Yes, Yellow Tangs are a shoaling fish. They get along perfectly together in open water where they can maintain their personal space. If you have a tank where a group of Yellow Tangs can maintain a two to three foot distance from the other Tangs they will likely shoal peacefully.

Yes, you are starting over and the tank will need to cycle to build up stable bacteria colonies.

    Crab with live reef?

Surprisingly there is very little bacteria in the water so it serves no purpose to store it. Just start with new water. Crabs don't generally eat coral. If it can catch your fish it might eat that but not the coral.

    GFCI questions

it's safe as long as you don't exceed the rating of the GFCI. The max wattage should be on the label. Can you find a friend to just swap out the outlet for you? It's real easy (once you find the breaker that turns the outlet off).

    Cycling question

Let's put the amount of ammonia in perspective. Opinions differ but I have the best long term success when I maintain an ammonia level of 0.25ppm while cycling a new tank. That's 1 part ammonia to 4,000,000 parts water. For a 30 gallon tank that comes to slightly less than 1/2 a drop of...

    Cycling question

1/4 cup of ammonia o_O Holy Cow!! What do you have in the tank now? Any live rock or live sand? If it were me I would start with a 100% water change and then follow a slower version of cycling.

I need some help to understand....

Energy = Mass X Speed of light X Speed of light E (energy) = M (mass) times c (Speed of light) Squared This is the end result of the Theory of Relativity and what allowed the US to end the war with Japan quickly.

    Cycling question

A Nitrite reading means you have insufficient bacteria that consume Nitrite & oxygen and excrete Nitrate. Although the Nitrite itself isn't all that harmful, it's a serious failure of the nitrogen cycle. It will work itself out but you will have to back off the ammonia. Just for future...

    Mini reef tank

I've made a couple canopies. As far as protecting the LEDs a thin piece of plexiglass is cheap and easy to clean. They just need to be replaced annually because the small scratches eventually degrade the amount of light. A piece of tempered glass will also work and will last for years. I've...

Can anyone help with a snail issue?

I would actually suggest the opposite. Get a good set of test kits and learn to use them accurately. If you can post some numbers it would help. Salinity - A refractometer is the most convenient for a moderate price - a salinity meter is very quick & accurate but pricey - swing arm is cheap...
