Al I have seen the dark to lighter color painted on the back of tanks and even with a lot of rock in the tank it still gives the illusion of depth

i like a combo of both darker at the bottom getting lighter as you move to the top

I really don’t have a definitive answer as to why my nitrates are now at constant undetectable levels. Obviously I was cycling organics to the nitrate stage or I would not have been able to keep fish alive. My systems only way to deal with nitrates was through anaerobic bacteria and water...

I just don’t think that a rise in nitrates and phosphates would cause something to die and trigger a ammonia spike what would cause your tank a tank to crash
