    Just to add to what my good friend Aqua posts. If your fish is suffering from impacted gills do to ick and something needs to help breathing immediately a fresh water dip may rid enough of the parasites that your fish may live long enough for copper or hypo to take effect

    I would think you would rather have a clear tall reaction chamber so you could monitor the sand in suspension

    best bet is burrowing snails they will last the longest, throw in a turbo now and then for a treat. BTW I have a LARGE turbo in my tank for sometime now and LOLA does not mess with it
