Help!!! Tube anemone is out of its tube

I have a tube anenome that I tried to move once, and in doing so I pulled him out of his tube. I thought he was dead, but I found him a few days later in the back of my tank growing a new tube. It's been about 3 months since that happened, and you can't even tell anything happened to him...

Southdown, anyone know of some in Southern CA

I have tried to find South Down on the West Coast myself, and I must tell you that you are wasting your time. Yes, HD carries South Down Sand, but only in their East Coast stores. I even called my local HD to see if I could special order it in, they couldn't do it. But where there's a will...

    Home made aquarium

I've seen the aquarium silicone for sale at Wal Mart. Their prices are usually better than anywhere else you might find the product. This however is not an endorsment for the product as I have never used it. I agree that you could have a cheaper, more dependable sump using a rubbermade...

    Who ate my hermit crab!?

Maybe the blue ate the scarlett, but it certainly wasn't your royal gramma. He most likely just died on his own. But at least you still have you blue hermit left. What temp do you keep your tank at? What is the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite levels? What about PH and Alkalinity? These may...

    stupid clowns

Aceis, I would suggest moving EVERYTHING around in you tank, including your live rock, corals and whatever else you have. Use it as an excuse to do some cleaning and/or maintenance. This should correct the problem, or at least confuse the fish!

    sponge

joe5, using an exacto knife to cut away at your sponge will not hurt it. I had some sponge sprout up on my live rock, and when I took it out for a few seconds for maintence, the same thing happened to me......black spot. But it will bounce back as mine did. If you use a knife to cut away the...

    GOIN FISHIN

I have been in this hobby for about one year, and I hate to admit it, but I added fish the first day that I got my tank. I know I shouldn't have, everybody told me not to, but they didn't (for the most part) die. I used damsels because they were cheap, hardy and who cares if they die anyway...

    Live Rock???

Leslie123, make sure that your checking for the evil Nitrate and Nitrite. What and how much that grows on your lr might also depend on what supplements your adding to your tank. Calcium is very important for lr growth. It also takes time for these things to "appear". Some say that Weiss...

    Cleaner shrimp problem

I have two cleaners, one coral banded, one pepermint, and one blood shrimp. None of my boys have ever bothered a coral, or went ballistic when I try to feed the fish or the corals. Maybe your shrimp needs theropy, but the more obvious answer is THESE GUYS ARE HUNGRY! :p

    blue starfish acclimation

Blue starfish are difficult to keep alive, and do seem very susceptible and vulnerable to temperature changes. I have had two, the first one lived for about 6 months, but died when I took him out of my tank for about an hour while I was gleaning the crushed coral bed. I put him, and everything...

    avalanche!

I find that my snails move the rocks around, and knock my corals off their perch. Cowrie snails are especially bad. I have found that building rock is very different than building houses out of playing cards......the rocks need to be stable and able to withstand some shifting and movement...

    Finally got a critter!

Good for you. Be sure not to overfeed that killer hermit you have! I would suggest buying some mysid shrimp, and feeding him one shrimp every other day. That'd be like someone feeding you a half a cow everyother day, so don't feel bad, like your starving the little guy. You could "stick" the...

    Peppermint Shrimp missing

In answer to your question,....it could be that he's hiding, or fell victim to a predetor. I bought two pepermint shrimp, dumped them in my tank, and now I have just one. Don't know what happened to #2. But the one that I do have likes to hide behind rock. They are nocternal, so check your...

How Many Hermits Should I Get For My 46 Gallon Bow

I started out with 50 or so hermits in my tank, but they numbers slowly dwindled to about 10-15. They are always fighting each other, and/or eating my snails. I don't plan on replacing my hermits, and when I finally get a sump, I think I'll throw then in the sump, along with some other...
