7 weeks hypo and still ick!

The glass is for some loose mushrooms I had floating around. I am trying to get them to attach to some rubble so I can glue them to a rock. I have 2 clumps (scientific word there) of suncorals. The smaller clump, about 3" in diameter open several hours during the day. I've had them for about...

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

Well I bit the bullet and put them in the DT Fri. nite. The yellow tang looked horrible and I would not have been surprised Sat. am if I found him dead. But much to my surprise, he looked MUCH better!!! His HLLE will take a while to clear up but I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will...

    Cause of HLLE found

I've read a couple of articals about HLLE and carbon, I believe they said it is ONE of several possible contributing factors. Lots of people run carbon and don't have a problem. I just took a tang out of QT with HLLE that did not have carbon in the system. It sounds like it just adds fuel to...

    i'm in wilmington, north carolina

ZeeZee--Welcome to the forum! It is nice that you were trying to help but the post is from 2006. I'm betting they aren't here anymore. Your lucky to live close to a place to collect things for your tank.

    Hair algae outbreak..I need help

Hi Flower-- If you have the room an algea turf scrubber does a great job getting rid of unwanted algea. It was easy to make and inexpensive, but does take some space. Originally I set mine up to reduce nitrates. I still hear what a wonderful job they do for nitrites, but for me personally it...

    Do bubble corals split??

I have 2 in my 120g. A green and a white, I like the contrast. I think 2 in your 225g would look nice. It is gonna take a long time for the baby to get very big anyway. If you keep having babies....send them this way

Maybe getting some corals today. Placement ideas/advise appreciated.

I really like your aquascaping! You will be happy with those corals the frogspawn and star polyps will grow pretty quickly. I have 2 bubble corals that are really easy as well and I like the movement they add to the tank. Flower--I really like your green and blue mushrooms. I'm tired of my...

    Reuse your Sachem purigen?

WOW....sorry to hear that. I have been thinking of doing this, just hadn't gotten around to it yet. I think I will just forget about it and buy some new.

I haven't done a water change in at least 5 years, and only have a Fluval 404 canister filter

My dad was the same way. 180 gallon, 20+ years, FOWLR (some of his base rock was lava rock out of his landscaping--lol). He had 2 cannister filters and several power heads. He did a water change once a year "whether it needs it or not". He would change the filter media in one cannister...

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

Well......the old man likes you so I think it will be okay Where is everybody? I have a few days to work on raising the salinity so I have some time. Just checked it tonight it is 1.018 and I may add a little more before bed. He doesn't look too bad tonight.

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

Thanks Spanko. That is what I have been thinking but with the health of my other fish at stake, it is nice to have a second opinion. If it isn't too stressful for them I could get the salinity up by Sun. Hopefully my other tang will behave and leave them alone. He was good buddies with my...

Casey Anthony Jury Has Reached A Verdict

I didn't follow this very close because it made me sick. Isn't she still going to be in jail for awhile for hindering an investigation? Obviously that is a slap on the wrist but I would hope she won't be back out on the street for some time. Also didn't her mother (grandma) call the police...

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

Forgot......the reason I have left the copper in was I wanted to be positive it wasn't a parasite. Also the length of treatment recommended is 4 weeks, I am only a few days shy of that so thought it wouldn't hurt to leave it in the full 4 weeks.

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

Thanks for the reply. So far I have left the copper in the tank. I started raising the salinity about a week ago. The last 2 times I have done hypo (on other fish), I took 2-3 times longer to raise the salinity then recommended, I had the time so it wasn't worth stressing them out. Right now...

    Upside down cake

Alright...one more, while I'm making it I thought I would post. This is a must have at our house for the 4th. (but we love it anytime) Scotcheroos: 1c. sugar 1c. light corn syrup Bring to a gentle boil for approx. 30-60 seconds. Take off heat and add 1c. creamy peanut butter. Working quickly...

7 weeks hypo and still ick!

It looks more like lympho than ick, but it still isn't quite fitting the discription. Just to make sure it is clear, the yellow tang in post #43 is NOT our tang. Kiefers and I have a difference of opinion here, I don't think our yellow tangs symptoms look like the YT in post #43 but it does...
