    Stand Build

So you mean something like this: That sounds like a good way to build the 20 gallon stand. For the 75 though I want to do a standard lumber frame with a solid oak skin. This is my current plan for the frame for the 75 gallon:

    Stand Build

Well what would be easier, build a frame and skin it or build the entire stand decorative? I'm thinking along the lines of a cabinet stand, just to make sure we're thinking along the same lines. For my QT 30" would be fine. I'll probably want to go higher with the stand for the 75 though.

    Stand Build

Well if I make it look pretty (today I'm leaning that way) I'll want it oak, so I'll probably use 2x2 lumber for the main frame and an oak plywood skin with trim. Didn't get around to the drawings today. I know what you mean about the crappy pre-made stands. I got one of those for my 55, after a...

    Stand Build

At this point I'm just thinking something to hold up the tank. The problem is as soon as it's done I'll probably decide I want it to look nice. Obviously when the time comes for the 75 gallon stand I'll want it to look nice, and have already been doing some research concerning that and have paid...

    Stand Build

Hello all, I am looking to upgrade my QT from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon long, and want to build a stand for it. Eventually I am also going to be building a stand for a 75 gallon I plan to set up, so figure the 20 gallon stand will be good practice. So, my current plan is to build the stand out...

    Good Cost Effective RO Unit???

I've been very happy with me 5 stage plus BRS system. The only problem was an elbow fitting broke during shipment. I gave them a call, and I had the part I needed a couple days later. They even threw in a couple extras just in case. And as other people have mentioned it comes with any means of...

No, I understand. Not questioning, just commenting. :) I believe in water changes.

    Hello again

Why redo the aquascape? I think it looks nice the way it is.

water changes, or the lack thereof

I wasn't suggesting frequent 100% water changes, just thinking about what a water change actually does from a waste stand point.

That thread unfortunately will probably not be for some time.

    Quarantine Tanks

I have some actual reef buffer too, I'm good with keeping the pH up. Now all I have to do is get my new tank, build a stand for it, plumb it, get it set up, and move my clowns over. Then I can actually move on to getting new fish. :)

water changes, or the lack thereof

This thread has inspired me to do a water change. :) I have noticed the same thing as nova. Whenever I do a water change my livestock becomes more active, and spend more time swimming and exploring and less time hiding. However, what beaslbob said is true too. With ever water change the...

    Quarantine Tanks

Okay. I'll look into purchasing that then. I'll treat every fish with it, and that way I can be quite certain disease wont end up in my tank (at least on a fish).

    Quarantine Tanks

Will Mardel kill Marine Velvet? The link you gave says it works for protozoan diseases, which I'm assuming means Marine Velvet even though Amyloodinium ocellatum is a dinoflagellate, not a protozoan. So would treating every fish I quarantine with Mardel be a good means of preventing any disease...

Drilling the tank yourself is easy too.

    new tank- cycling question

You may have some difficulties adding another clown at this point, you'll have to choose a properly sized clownfish to pair to your probably by now female clown. Besides, your tank is only ten gallons, so just sticking with one fish may be the best idea. An angel would not be happy in a ten...

    Diy wet dry

Just out of curiosity, what factors are determining the size of your sump? Having a larger sump wont hurt anything. It would just give you more water volume which equals more stability.
