    are blue damsels extremely aggressive?

I'd stay away from damsels except for chromis and clowns. Even some clowns can be pretty aggressive.

    Clown fish

If you want brands...I use mostly H2O Life and Dr G's. I keep some PE frozen mysis around, but I've found that it tends to be crazy high in phosphates and also makes my tank smell bad if I don't rinse the crap out of it. PE mysis also tends to be bigger than the brands that I mentioned and my...

    Clown fish

Clowns aren't that picky. Mine eat pretty much what ever I feed. Frozen mysis and nori sheets make up the bulk of my feeding for my tank, but my clowns are just as happy eating new life spectrum sinking pellets. I wouldn't feed nori if it was just clowns though. That is mostly for my tangs...

    Continuous water changes

I just finished setting this up. I currently have it programmed to exchange 4 gallons (15.14L) every day. It accomplishes this by exchanging 100.93 ml (a little less than 1/2 cup) 150 times at day. About every 9.6 minutes pump A turns on and pumps 100.93 ml of fresh sea water into my...

Beginning to cycle a new tank with tap water

Did my initial fill with tap water. I had some early algae issues. It all worked out in the end, but if I had to do it again I'd buy five or six 5gal jugs from the beginning and make four or five trips to the store for water. Well..I'd make those trips if I didn't own my spectrapure maxcap 5...

    Continuous water changes

Ok...Let's look at the risk... - The input pump is pumping slightly faster than the output pump or the output pump fails. * The level in my sump starts to rise. My sump can easily handle the four gallons that would be pumped into it over a 24 hour period. Hopefully a float switch would...

Should i buy a Reverse Osmosis Water system?

I'm glad that I purchased my 5 stage Spectrapure MaxCap 90GPD RO/DI. I think I paid a little over $200 a few years ago for it.

    Test Kit madness

Got the alk checker today. I've only had the chance to do one quick test, but so far I love it. A quick and easy way for me to test alk without having to find someone that's not colorblind. I think I'll order the calcium checker. Haven't had a chance to compare the results to my other test...

    Test Kit madness

I despise test kits. I'm colorblind. So I have to nag my wife to be my eyes when I test. I've heard good things about some of the Hanna checkers. I ordered the alk checker to test it out. I'll compare it to the Red Sea and API kits that I used in my original post.

    Test Kit madness

I just got a new Red Sea Foundation Pro test kit. It covers Calc, Alk and Mag. The results were way higher than what I was expecting after testing my water. I broke out my fairly new (exp 2018) Salifert Calc test kit. The results were significantly lower. Red Sea Foundation: Ca 500 dKH...

    Continuous water changes

Is anyone doing continuous water changes? I do weekly large water changes on my mixed reef. I don't really mind doing the work, but I feel that it stresses out my livestock when I pump out 30% of the water and pump in fresh NSW. I've been pondering the idea of setting up a continuous exchange...
