What are these? They're taking over! Aiptasia!

You could try a Bristletail filefish. Also known as Jade Filefish, Matted Filefish, Matted Leatherjacket, Tomentosus Filefish, or Aiptasia Eating Filefish. I've been waging war against Majano anemones for years in my tank. I picked up one of these fish and he did a bang up job of eliminating...

Ive been bit by the saltwater bug and need your help once again

It is pretty heavily stocked. None of my fish are juveniles anymore. I accidentally left my two ocellaris clowns and my black ocellaris clown off of the above list. I do weekly 30G water changes with natural sea water. My sump and fuge add about 20G of water volume to my system. I've never...

Ive been bit by the saltwater bug and need your help once again

A 90G tank could easily house two or three times what you listed above if it was set up properly. I've had 4 tangs, a niger trigger, a fox face, a mandarin dragonet, a royal gramma, a pigmy angel, a flame hawk, a purple firefish, ten blue/green chromis, a midas blenny and a watchman goby for...

    Best option for tank cover

I ask a question about my reef and get a lecture on parenting. This is why I stopped frequenting this site over a year ago. My four year old could read at age three. Can do basic math. Always says please and thank you. Sometimes enjoys playing with bouncy balls in the house. My two year...

    Triggers...

Are there any triggers that aren't giant A-holes? I've had a Niger Trigger in my mixed reef for about three years. He has a bad habit of getting bored and decimating my Chromis population. He steals food from my BTA. He attacks my hands when I'm working in the tank. He attacks the algae...

    fish are dying!

Did you put ich medication in your tank? Most ich medications are highly toxic to inverts.

    Best option for tank cover

This is what I came up with after searching various reef forums. It's 3/4" aluminum screen framing with plastic screen frame corners. I used 1/4 clear netting for the screen.

Ive been bit by the saltwater bug and need your help once again

Depends on what type of fish, filtration, frequency of water changes, availability of hiding places, feeding frequency... Some people pack a lot of fish into a tank. The environment is generally more stressful for the fish. It requires more upkeep. Some fish get aggressive if they have too...

    New AI Hydra LED Fixture

Don't used the USB power adapter that comes with the controller. It's crap and causes most button pushes to register twice. Swap it out with a USB power adapter from a cell phone and the controller will work much better. I'm using a USB power adapter that came with my wireless mouse. Works...

Best way to keep anemone's out of Hydor Koralia

My 90G mixed reef is a about 3 1/2 year's old now. I've finally upgraded my lighting to AI Hydra LED's. I'm planning on adding an anemone. I don't want said anemone to be turned into a smoothy by my power heads. How are others solving this problem? Knee high panty hose?

    New AI Hydra LED Fixture

The Hydra's have been hung. I played with them a little last night. They don't look to be nearly as bright as my T5 blue pluses. I'm guessing that this is just a difference between T5's and LEDs. I'm not sure how high to set them. I have two hydra's hanging 8 inches off of the water on a 48...

    New AI Hydra LED Fixture

My Hydra's were scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I checked tracking on the package when I got back to work from lunch and saw "Out for early delivery". I immediately packed up my laptop and rushed home. I'll finish my work day from here. Can't wait for Mr. UPS man to bring me my shiny new toys.

    Best option for tank cover

I may be over complicating things, but I've read of people have issues with egg crate limiting their light coverage area. I have some black egg crate in the garage, but it doesn't sound hard to frame some 1/4 inch clear mesh. It'll will look better if nothing else.

    Best option for tank cover

I just ordered two AI Hydra's to replace my old retro T5 fixture. I'm planning on hanging the LED fixtures from the ceiling, but I need to remove the top of my hood. I have a two year old boy and a four year old boy that like to throw things in the house. What's my best option for keeping...

    Opinion on my Hammer Coral

The top pic looks like a montipora capricornis to me. It's not a plate coral. It's one of the hardier SPS. Put it near the top in your setup.
