    Under the hood

It sometimes amazes me how much stuff we manage to cram under our tanks. I would love to have a fish room or basement to put my sumps in, but I just stuff everything under the tank like most people. I thought it would be fun to see what people have under their tanks. I'll show you mine if you...

    Yerboy's rimless SPS build

I really like the rimless look, but I know my two year old's sippy cup would be floating in my tank if I tried an open top. Not to mention my cats would be fat from eating all of the fish jumping from my tank. I already have a problem with jumpers making it through the eggcrate in my openback...

    Some sort of bivalve?

What is this thing wedged under my montipora capricornus? It's just to the left of the snail. Some sort of bivalve? Also, is that an aiptasia just below the snail? It doesn't look like the other aiptasia and majano that I've encountered in my tank.

Need some hlep with Kalk dosing

Kalk will stabilze cal, alk and PH, but I think what he was saying is that they need to balanced to begin with. If your calc is high and alk is low (or vice-versa) then dripping kalk won't fix that because you tank needs more of one than the other.

    Tear down for fish removal

A medium sized rock that one of my Alveopora's was on fell today. I guess I didn't put everything back together as well as I thought. The Alveopora ended up on top of my Hammer coral. I reattached the Alveopora to the rock and put the rock back. The polyps on the Alveopora did come out...

Do I have enough lightt for a clam?

    Fragging Xenia

I guess my macro's (and skimmer) outcompete it. I've never had a reading other than 0 for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

    What to do?

Captive Purity's, Kent Marine's, and SpectraPure's replacement filters are all interchangeable. This makes it easy to get filters for these brands. It also gives you the flexibility of being able to buy brand name or generic replacement filters.

Do I have enough lightt for a clam?

I have a Maxima up high on my rocks and Derasa on my sandbed in a standard 90G . I've had both for over a year and they are doing great. I have them under 4 bulb 48" 54W T5's. I'm running two ATI Blue plus bulbs, one UVL Aquasun 10K and one UVL Super Actinic. I'm not guaranteeing anything...

I use a SpecraPure Maxcap RO/DI (90 GPD). I like it. It's a 5 stage unit. The stages are: .5 Micron Sediment Filter .5 Micron Carbon Block 90 GPD RO membrane MaxCap DI SpecraPure Silica-Buster I also use a SpectraPure "auto shut-off valve float kit" in my 75 Gallon holding tank for RO water...

    Mystery Crab

Saw this guy under a rock tonight. I'm guessing he's probably been in my tank for over a year. So he's pretty good at laying low. Luckily my camera was in reach of where I was sitting. I was only able to get one shot off before he scurried under the rock and disappeared. Sorry about the...

    Tear down for fish removal

I recently had to tear down my tank to catch a Bristletailed Filefish that was eating my coral. I thought I'd post a few pics. Everything is back in the tank and seems to have survived the ordeal. Before: After:
