I just ordered a lighting upgrade for my 55g also...anxiously awaiting its arrival. Finding a fixture with just 1 plug might limit your choices. Most have 2 plugs (1 actinics, 1 daylight) and if it has moonlights a third plug for that. Also, how much are you will to spend?

I might hold off on the cleaners, but I think you would be fine. Take a look at the reef packages that SWF offers here. I assume that they would all come in one big shipment. I am not speaking from experience, just comparing to what they sell here.

I have 2 skunk cleaners with my pistol shrimp in a 55g. They get along just fine. Not sure if a smaller tank would make a difference in their attitudes or not.

I've actually seen my randalli pistol pick at hair algae. Other than that I squirt a couple mysis shrimp down the burrow for it and my watchman.

I have the same filter on my 55g. I use 20 and 30ppi foam on the bottom. One tray is empty and the other has some biostars that came with the filter. I use it for flow more than anything.

Clowns, cleaner shrimp, pajama cardinals and a psuedochromi are all that I have, other than the cleanup crew. Lid is half glass and the front half is covered with egg crate.

I haven't seen my yellow watchman in 2 days. Normally he guards the pistol shrimp burrow. Could the pistol have killed it? Anyone had this happen before?
