If you have something made of flexible plastic, like a plastic cup. Put that in there for a while and the Coraline algae will adhere to it quickly. Then you can flex the plastic and the Coraline will flake off very easily, spreading its spores around your tank.

The problem with filer floss is that as long as the floss is in your filter, so is all the debris. If you change your floss once a month, all that debris sits in there rotting away polluting your water. With a clean up crew, even though they do add to the bio load, most of what they eat goes to...

You could actually run the filter with no floss at all, just make sure you have a good clean up crew, snails, hermits, etc. The cannister filter would just be used to circulate the water. Just dont overfeed. If you have the extra overflow power filters, set one of them up as a refugium.

I dont keep my hospital or QT tank up all the time. Whenever I need it, I just drain water from my DT for the QT and then top the DT off with new water. Theres no sense in running a tank all the time that only sees occassional use. Just a simple 10 gallon with a heater and small power filter. No...
