New drilled octopus tank: J-pipe fitted with extension to keep the octopus from being sucked down the overflow. Just an extension of PVC with an end cap on it, has hundreds of 1/8th inch holes drilled in it. The lid is a solid piece of 1/4 inch acrylic. It adheres to the rim of the tank with...

    ID on starfish??

Yeah, harmless and they'll help clean up uneaten food. If you keep an eye on the tank it's not unlikely to see them spawn occasionally.

    Starfish Dicing

Serpents are pretty good about regenerating. I wouldn't try it with any of the prettier stars though.

    Starfish Dicing

You risk both halves dying. If your water conditions are absolutely perfect and there's enough food to support two starfish you might get lucky. Would be a neat experiment, but that's just what I would consider it, an experiment.

Depends on the species. Antennarius maculatus, yes. Most anything else, no, because they grow to about the size of a volleyball.

Is experimentation a part of this hobby?

Heh, "lower animal". Anthropomorphising an animal a fallacy, yes. Attaching the fact that they feel pain and suffer is not.

    Where to buy cope/amps

Here's an idea. I know for fact that Austin has a decent Marine Aquarium Society. Get in touch with them and I'm sure some members will be happy to GIVE you some pods. Big plus to being in contact with other hobbyists in your community. They're in it for the love of the hobby, not capitalizing...

    Do?

I've heard of them leaving their tubes before (saw one and man it was ugly!) and I believe they can make new ones, but if it left its old tube I'd assume something is wrong in the water.
