Hey Reefraff, they do indeed tax sickness benifits. It is supposed to pay out 80% of my net income wages...LOL...Then...
Sorry for the situation you are in. It will be a blessing for you when/if you disability goes thru. If you do decide to try and keep you tank running and sell your hippo I would imagine you could get more for it from craigslist or a local fish club in the area. Maybe if you don't have as many...
Too tired to take pictures tonight--I will try in the am but honestly it is a tight space and you may not be able to see much. My turf scrubber is 6 weeks old today, not much difference in nitrates yet but definately a change in the algea growth in the tank. SantaMontica gave me some tips on...
If you are planning on running this tank long term, I think a turf scrubber is a great idea. I recently put one in one side of my sump. For a school project however, it may get more expensive than you had hoped. To get enough flow to the turf scrubber you will probably need 2 pumps-one for...
FL Joe-You are correct, I do have a 120g + a 25g sump. I had bioballs in my mechanical filter and approximately 2" of agronite in my tank. I took 4 days to drop my salinity from 1.025 to 1.009, using a refractometer. I did quite a bit of research prior to attempting hypo. and everything I...

Believe it or not, it is absolutely true.
Just an FYI, I pulled all of my corals and live rock and decided to do the hypo in the main display. I was hoping to reduce stress to the fish. I had a few pieces of base rock and my substrate left in the tank before I started. There was more "life" in the substrate than I realized and when I...
How much are you budgeting for your filter? Is your tank drilled? I made a very simple, effective filter with an overflow box, large rubbermaid container, rubbermaid drawers (stacking), and a return pump.
You can also get some ideas on youtube.
Just sharing a picture of my new baby powder blue tang. Not exactly sure why but for some reason I'm more excited about this fish than normal. I love all tangs, this is the first powder blue I've had. She is getting along very well with the sailfin also. 2nd picture is of my flame angel...
I love watching the brains eat. Many years ago I used to think corals were boring. Hubby really got me interested in them, now I'm fascinated by them. Love watching them feed and grow. Nice pictures. I haven't posted on your other thread but that is a beautiful tang! The baby clown is...
I had a small start of xenia where I didn't want it and used Joe's Juice on it. It has been 3+ weeks and no sign of them coming back. I certainly wouldn't want to use it all over my tank but it worked well (at least so far) for the small spot.

A few more weeks of growth and the display algae will start going away.
You seriously will have to talk down to me on this--what the heck does "drilling bigger holes in the...
I just pulled my lights out and the bulb says 75w. Are the sprial bulbs stronger even with the lower wattage? You can tell I am clueless about lightbulbs---I know how to change them, that is about it.
My bulbs are indoor/outdoor spot lights, 75w. SantaMontica is recommending I use spiral 33w. I am going to have to do some research and figure out exactly what bulbs I need (I am clueless about that). He also recommends to use the light reflector, so I am going to put mine back on and give it...
Not sure what my scrubber cost to run? Just the electricity for a pump and 2 lights. Mine is on a 120g. Too soon to say how effective it will be. It has only been running for 4 weeks now but I have good growth on the screen and one type of dark, thick algea is almost gone.
Cost:
pump =$26...
I think your tank looks great. Too bad you had to convert your 90g to a goldfish tank. Maybe someday you will be up to converting it back. Love your brain and hammers.
