Most manufacturer websites have bulb life per hours. Just figure your hours that they are used each.

I personally like PC's for daylights and VHO actnics.

All three have done great in my system for over 3 years now. My system is 125 gallons.

I run a Seaclone 150 as my only filtration on my 125 gallon reef. It may not be the top of the line but it cost about $70.00 and does the job.

Having a temp of 76 degrees won't hurt anything.

Calcium and Alk and PH all work together so if your Calcium is that high and you add reef builder it may cloud your makeup water as the Calcium precipitates out. Once the make up water is introcuced into your tank then the calcium will level will drop and the Alk should raise I believe.

How old is your tank. Diatoms are a natural part of a tank maturing. Eventually you should notice the Diatoms die off and the green algae and the corraline will start growing. Just let the tank do its thing for awhile and make sure that PH levels are good.

I have used the GLACIER water machines that are in front of most crocery or drug stores for over 4 years now. The water is R/O, micron,carbon and yada yada yada.

Your skimmer probably has been doing it's job and has removed enough organics that there is not much more organic waste to remove. Low PH will decrease skimming ability also so see if your PH has dropped somewhat.
