    Seachem Marine Buffer

Not sure if the buffer raises alk. I remember reading it was a blended product that did alk and ph. If you want stictly alk then Reef Builder is the way to go.

    not tank in a hex

Yes cleaner shrimp would be a good thing in your tank. They will clean your fish, hence their name. They are good at helping to control ich in fact by cleaning the spots off of the fish and eating them. If you HAVE to buy something for that tank they would be your best bet. As far as the...

    not tank in a hex

I would get rid of the horseshoe crab. They get much bigger than your tank can handle, if they don't starve from a lack of food first. As for the goby is it a mandarin? or standard goby? A mandarin in your size tank may slowly starve to death. I just don't trust the long term odds for...

    MH question again sooo tired

and ANOTHER thing, i'm full of them, think of buying a halide system as an investment at this point. If you think of it that way you may be happier and more justified in getting it.... and ANOTHER thing, if you like clams at all they need halides :)

    MH question again sooo tired

You may get different colors/ better growth but my guess is nothing worth spending the money on. Not with softies. Of course it doesn't hurt to have halides for them. There may be other opinions out there. One more thing you may want to consider is the actual lighting in your tank. Is it...

Thoughts on moving tank 2 inches

If you can get it to slide then by all means keep all the water in. 2 concerns 1) the tank is top heavy so have a spotter in front of the tank while you slide to make sure it doesn't topple over. 2)whatever you have in the tank WILL fall over no matter how well stacked so you need to make sure...

    MH question again sooo tired

If all you want are softs why bother with the halides? I don't know of any that your 4 vho's can't handle. Possibly expand into SPS? If you eventually want a 125 then also remember to get seperate halides rather than a fixture. 125's are 6 feet :) Ideally you'd have a halide over every 2...

    Acclimation

You can't look for disease persay well yes you can.... Most have their own symptoms and look. Just look for white growths on the fish. Missing scales, films, cloudy eyes, breathing, eratic jerking(except for clowns they do that on their own sometimes), spots, missing fins, etc, etc. I don't...

    IO answers and results

Man 90+ alkalinity reading. Don't chuck that salt. Use it as a pure alk buffer :) I wonder if you were to use small doses in the teaspoons if that would work. Is that what you lost in the first place? The cleanup crew and 6 line? I think i have you confused with MichaelTX and his power...

    Air stone ok?

Well yes and no. It won't hurt anything. BUT keep in mind how a skimmer works. It creates micro bubbles to capture particles and float them to the top. Hence your bubble curtain. You may get foaming at the top of your tank. Keep in mind also as those bubbles burst at the top they do spray...

    MH question again sooo tired

It more depends on the depth of your tank rather than the size. Dual 250's or dual 175's would work either way. Your main concern is heat and keeping the canopy cool and happy. If you ever plan on going bigger and badder in tank size you may want the 250's now rather than later. Certainly if...

Help Wanted: Need a good Sand Guy

Ceriths or Nassarius. My ceriths lay eggs occasionally and stick to the walls and sand. Both bury themselves from time to time so they will keep the sand shifted for you to a certain extent. In a 120 i would get at least 10 ceriths...

Pet Shop Nori Vs Sushi Nori?

Same stuff but it could be treated with different preservatives thus why there is a difference in the eating habits. Thats the only difference though. Check the packages and try and compare them and see whats actually in the product. That may give you answers.

    Everything Died! What now?

Adding on to JW this time :) alot of medications are NOT suited for reef tanks. Some are copper based which is toxic to inverts and corals. Treating your main tank for a disease usually ends up messing it up far more than it helps. Not to mention it takes alot of work getting the display...

    ID Please:

Interesting. I have the same stuff in my tanks growing in shady spots out of the light. I've never seen it attatch to a coral though. Maybe someone else will know. Try a post with whats growing on my xenia as the name. Sometimes various types of inverts will grow symbiotically with a coral...

    Everything Died! What now?

Adding on to what Thomas said, the reason you are leaving the tank fishless for 4 weeks at least is to let any fish oriented disease die off without any kind of host. If you were to add a new fish now he would most likely get sick like your other fish. Sounds like what happened was you had an...

    Acclimation

Thats a good sign if he's eating. Its a big sign with the introduction of anything into an aquarium. He should be fine. If you are going to see any type of disease it will probably manifest in the next couple days.... Thats the next hurdle.
