    Acclimating corals to new MH

SPSfreak oh i understand they get that much lighting in the day i meant MAX lighting in the day is only 4-6 hours. Hence his situation MAX would be 4-6 hours of both his halides. I understand simulating a true day on a reef in a home environment is all but impossible though. BUT setting your...

    raising pH

Bang, won't a stable or kh (8-12) range keep the ph stable? Or does it just help resist drastic changes?

    raising pH

.1 a day would be fine i think.... Or you could get the ph regulator that seachem makes. It slowly raises ph up to 8.3 and keeps it stable. Try and also figure out why your ph got there in the first place. Could be problematic signs in that reading.

    Acclimating corals to new MH

That makes sense becuse then if you couple in an actinic bulb you could potentiall simulate a better night/day effect. Its more up to you what you do. One thing to keep in mind is that a typical reef out in the wild gets its most light only 4-6 hours a day. So maybe you could burn each for...

    Acclimation

Yes you do need to acclimate snails. Hermits i've heard you don't need to since they are so durable but i would go ahead and do it anyways just to make sure. I guess rule of thumb acclimate any life you place in your tank. Live rock and live sand being the only exception. If you want to be...

    Acclimating corals to new MH

Another version. If you want to be absolutely safe, without moving your corals all over. Just run the extra halide half and hour first week and add on half an hour every week till you get it up to what you want. There are a number of ways to do it. Whatever you choose remember to give 4-7...

    New frags

Kip check that tricolor at night. I think i have the same variety in my 20 and it sorta opens the polyps during the day and definitely at night they open up REALLY big especially on the tips of the acro.

Fish keep dying, but corals are fine.... why?

CSRobe sounds definitely like a parasite. The clown killer sounded a little bit like marine velvet. I've only read what it looks like but its a sort of film that covers the body and can kill very quickly. Definitely let the tank sit fishless for a while and let it work its way out. Keeping...

    Percs not eating

I've heard many a story but something to throw at you.... Sometimes they won't eat due to acclimation stresses. No matter what precautions you take there is always some stress associated with that. I've also heard something about anemone fish disease and wild caught fish. A guy i worked with...

    canon g3 or g5

Not entirely sure but i think one has a higher pixel count than the other. Making for sharper pictures.... I'm sure others know WAY more than me.

    Calcium Reactors, CO2 Systems

You need both. The calcium reactor holds araganite material. The CO2 feeds the calcium reactor chamber and creates calcium carbonate i think. However it works and someone can explain better than I, if it is set up properly it perfectly doses calcium, carbonates, and maintains a stable ph...

    rio pumps

The small rios are pretty good. I use them in my tanks. Barely audible noise but if you get into the bigger ones they just plan don't work well. Loud, break, and the suction cups usually don't work.....

    Acclimation

There is no one way to do it. But what is key in doing it is matching ph,salinity, and temperature as much as possible. That process should take at a minimum in my opinion an hour if not longer for more prized things....

    chromis

Ok those are the same thing. They look nice in a school..... I'll tell you that.

    chromis

Well they can be a very pale green/whiteish, to a very vibrant light green that fades to blue at the edges of their bodies. Yes they do look different under certain light. Are they listed at the store as blue chromis? I've never seen green chromis listed as blue chromis before. There is a...

    chromis

No they won't. If its the blue chromis i'm thinking of.... THere are two different types of green chromis out there but the only difference i've read is a plack dot at the base of their side fin. Better to get more green chromis. The two you currently have are squabbling. I have a pair and...

OT: Latest crop circle. Does this means something out there.

Yeah, i watched a special on this on some channel or other. I don't know what to make of them BUT the geometric perfectness and sheer size of these things can not be done very easily, let alone by a group of coordinated people in a night.... There are to many perfectly symetric lines for it to...

    need help fast

Acclimate them of course. You want to place them in a spot where they will get some water flow. Their feathers shoudl sway a decent amount. I will warn you. I've had 3 and all three have died. They will jump their tubes from time to time and either make a new tube or shrivel up. I've just...

Fish keep dying, but corals are fine.... why?

Squidd red sea is by 50 a drop so i think he has close to 500 calcium..... You add the first 4 plus whatever else he adds.... JmesMcM i agree with you there about the UV sterilizer but he has a reef tank. It's definitely a nono to put a uv sterilizer into a reef. There are to many micro...
