    Aragocrete rock f/s NW wash

I have about 70 lbs of aragocrete rock for sale. It cured in freshwater for over 3 months and has been sitting in saltwater for the last three months while I am gone overseas. I will be home soon and am going to sell it. i don't have any pictures but the pieces are rather large with one being...

    Have you modified your Seaclone?

I believe that the newer seaclones have the improvements already done as far as the shorter inner tube and a better air valve.

can any coral survive in this.

In a 90 gallon you can keep almost anything with 440 watts of VHO and you will be alot less likely to have the heat issue. You probably will need fans even with straight VHO but unless you have a really tall canopy with tons of airflow you will definately need a chiller if you go MH and then...

can any coral survive in this.

You can get VHO for around 300.00 shipped and have 440 watts and keep lots of stuff. I had 2-110Watt 10K VHO and 2-40Watt actinic over my 90 Gal and kept quite a few soft corals with no problem at all. Depending on your hood, PC's can create quite a bit of heat where VHO runs much cooler and the...

To DSB or not to DSB

Simply putting a DSB in a tank is not going to give you another little ecosystem in your tank. You need a high enough bioload and a high enough concentration of the right type of critters. You also need the right size and concentration of different types of sand to trully benefit from a...

    OT: Bad news for me!!!

The problem with morale is that people are different these days when it comes to war. In WWII men were gone for YEARS at a time. Men went from one battle to the next and people accepted that as the price of freedom. There was no e-mail or morale calls or nothing. There was a fox hole, a gun...

To DSB or not to DSB

I personally do not like the look of 4-6 inches of sand in my main display and because I am military and deploy often I don't have a sump that could spring a leak while I am gone. In my 125 gallon reef I have a skimmer and about a 1 inch sand bed that turns into just a dusting of sand towards...

    Additional Filter Besides UGF?

I think it was. For the first couple days let the skimmer run with the air valve all the wat open and then after a couple days close the valve to just short of bubbles entering your tank.

    Suggestions on filter replacement?

Does the current filter work good. You could just paint it and keep it if it works good.

    Too Much Filtration Possible?

If you understock your tank which I highly recommend then the DSB will serve no real purpose besides taking up space. Live rock though not as effective will reduce your nitrates with a small bioload. In my 125 gallon I have a Purple Tang, Yellow Tang, Flame Angel, Clown fish, and Yellow Tail...

Where in sacramento are you. Can you hire somebody to maintain the tank for you. My father knows alot about aquariums and if you can't find something then maybe he can stop by once every so often and check on the tank for you.

How much rock is to much?

I must admit that when I was single I used to love westpacs and australia, but now that I'm married with kids I am not looking forward to carriers again. I really prefer the open reef look with lots of room for the fish to swim around the rocks and not just infront of them.

How much rock is to much?

I just thought I would start a thread to get peoples points of views of how much rock is enough. I don't think that it really takes alot of rock to convert ammonia->nitrite->nitrate and therefore I think that alot of people pack way to much rock into a tank thinking that they are benefiting...
